Florida Meet up Date
 
Well it seems like everyone wanted to meet up sooner than April (me too!:D ) so how is March 8th for everyone? I am getting so excited- I can't wait to meet everyone!:)

Hi, I'm from Iowa - but my parents live in Sarasota, and I may be visiting that week. When I was there at Christmas time, I tried to get a meetup together, but started planning too late. If I'm in Fla. then, would I be welcome to join in with Bubba & Roxy?

March 8th is my birthday! I don't have any plans yet, so i'll definately be there!

Also, for everyone staying in hotels, we should all try and stay in the same one! :thumbup: I live in Tampa, so i don't really need to stay over, but I'll probably stay over Saturday night if anyone wants to do some outlet shopping on Sunday ;)

We though Pawmosa and Meadow Woods looked good. Pawmosa is brand new but might be really busy. It doesn't look like either park has attendants so if anyone has any suggestions or input feel free to post way!:) I don't have first hand knowledge of any parks in Orlando.

Good idea.....I think The West Orange Dog Park was another one that was rated highly as well.

I am game for any of them since I am traveling from the East Coast any ways.

We're just "officially" planning the dog park meet up but I'm sure those staying over night will make some other plans. Yay! Can't wait to meet you!:)

I'm new on this list, don't even have my own Yorkie yet, but I do know a lot about Orlando and Dog parks. I live in walking distance to Downey Park, but it is totally unacceptable for Yorkies as they can escape easily to a very busy highway.

West Orange is beautiful as is Fleet Peeples (my favorite because it is in Winter Park and not far from the whole foods store). Mill Slough is in Kissimmee, a good bit from Orlando, but close to Disney.

Those three are the only ones with sufficient tree cover. It is dangerous for Yorkies in those other parks because we have tons of large bird predators.

Just to legitimize, I don't have my own, but my son and daughter-in-law have just had their first litter and if things go well I soon will! I helped raise one of their dogs, but they have since moved to Ft. Lauderdale and I miss my Zappa and Zoe! I can't wait to tell everyone the whole story (I have to get permission cause I think my DIL is a member of this list too and I don't want to steal her thunder!)

This s the meetup being planned in Orlando... I believe the date is March 8th. Mr. Biggs will be there with his new brother! :D

Oh I did not know the date was actualy set.. I just mentioned this to my hubby and he says we should go... :D

I am old though, :confused: and probably feel like mum to you all.. LOL

I will need more infor if any is being posted.. we are in zephyrhills. so not really too far away.. but we would take motorhome..

Hey, I'm old too and only live a short distance from you in Spring Hill.......how cool is that. Not sure if I can make the meet up just yet but will be keeping my eye on this thread.:D :D :D ....in case I can.

LOL. It's ok. We all share the common bond that we love our pups, so age doesn't matter!

By the way, you're not that far from me... I'm over in New Tampa :) My BF and I are definately going and we'll be bring the new puppy too! I think we're gonna be staying in a hotel on Saturday night. I'll let you know when we know for sure, so maybe a bunch of us can all stay in the same hotel :D

Is new Tampa the Wesley Chapel area.. I shop over there all the time..gee I could meet you...I shop on Bruce B Downs. We do not have a Target right now.. so we drive over there...

I think my hubby wanted to take the motorhome.. I also think a few others wanted to camp.. from the other thread... so we will see how it all goes.. easier to travel with my 4...LOL

Yeah, New Tampa is the Tampa Palms area....we're right below Wesley Chappel. I was actually just at that Target today. lol. Oh, and I live off Bruce B Downs. haha. Whenever you want to have our own mini meetup, just let me know!

Wow, the motorhome sounds like fun.. I haven't been camping in forever! But I'm definately a hotel girl. lol

I'm old. Does that give extra points?

I have marked down March 8th on my calendar to come and meet you all, though my puppy won't be ready for 2 more weeks after that. Be prepared for questions! I have a ton!

Like for instance: If you treat them like a baby doll and dress them up from day one do they ever really get used to it? I keep buying outfits for my son's dogs but they mostly hang in the closet. I switched to toys because they get some use, but I was wondering if anyone else gets any use out of their "pet-wear."

Depends on the puppy... my small guys loves clothes, if they are not stiff.. I think if you get them going right away, they know it is part of their life..
tshirts and stuff and one piece outfits he wears...

You have come to the right place for asking questions..lots of great people on yt.

I hope you come! I think there will be a good mix of ages. I'm 35 so I'm kind of medium- not old or young.:p We are still trying to pick a park so if you have any ideas please post them.:)

ETA- also my 13 year old daughter is coming so she'll be the really young one!:p

I just looked at and couldn't find if the little dogs are in a seperate part than the big dogs. Do you know?

Okay I think we can rule Fleet Peeples out. They don't allow dogs off leash on weekends.:(
