new members intro section
 
I have a suggestion to make. I think we need a special little area for new people to introduce them selves. I don't always see a new members post and I think sometimes they get shoved out of sight with all the postings. the first place i start is the "new posts" button. I dont' always have time to check them all out so I am sure I am missing lots of them. any way... I just thought it would be nice to go to a section daily to see new members and welcome them without missing any and needlessly making one feel less special than the other. Just a thought.:thumbup:

That's a great idea! There are so many levels of yorkie addicts on this site, and I have had the greatest time talking to everyone, and feeling more normal and sane!

My name is Lauren, I'm 24, I recently moved from Wichita KS to Austin TX to continue my education. I've had my two yorkies for about 2 years, and they are not litter mates. Their names are Tina and Tbone, and they are dynomite!

It has been great meeting people on here, because I haven't had much opportunity to make friends in TX yet. It feels great to have people to talk to !

Welcome to YT...If I missed an original introduction. By your post count it looks like you've made yourself quite comfy and at home here...That's the way, I like it!!!

I agree! When I joined (both times), it's those introductory messages that really sucked me in and made me feel comfy! I'm sure it's the same way for everyone!!

I joined and jumped right in with a question...I never did properly introduce myself, or Winston. Poor manners or maybe no manners...sorry!!!
My name is Kathy, I am 51 years old...today. Winston is 3 years old. He is my second Yorkie...my first was Spencer who passed away 3 years ago at the age of 11. Born and raised right here in Kewanee, Illinois, and here is where I will stay til I'm older and grayer...then our plan is to become full time RV'ers...our dream!!!

Belated welcome to YT Mary and Spanky. It can be a really fun place to be...and I still am learning more and more about Yorkies every day, even though I've had them for 15 years. Enjoy!!!

I was on YT years ago when I had my first yorkie, Roxie. She was a puppy mill yorkie that we took in without knowledge of what we were really getting into. She was in such bad physiological shape and had some severe issues which got worse in time. LOL - I think that means that I spend too much time on YT instead of getting 8 hours of sleep a night!! And if you ask Coby, he'll tell you that I spend too much time on YT instead of playing with him!! (But I'm a good multi-tasker!)

Hello, I'm probably doing this wrong, but I thought I would give it a shot.
I'm new to this website and I have no clue what I'm doing. A friend of mind gave me this website.
We have two Yorkies Tiny and Peewee and we could not love anymore if they had been our children. Anyhow, I wanted to join a group where there were other Yorkies. And I wanted to let other know we have an online business my two daughters and I started this year. It's really slow, but we are hoping it will pickup. How do I start a topic here? There are so many questions, but maybe once I know how to start a topic it will make since.

I think an intro forum would be a good idea too, especially with a site the size of this one. It would make finding and welcoming new people so much easier.:thumbup: :thumbup:

I really like this idea so much! So many new posts get lost and I would think it would make someone feel more welcome..........:)

I agree and they wouldn't feel scared to jump in somewhere because they would be in a new section just for them.

I agree I am new and that would of been nice when I first started. It is very over whelming in here. I still get lost all the time, but trying to learn and not upset anybody by posting stupid things. Which a lot of time I fill that is what I am doing. So I don't post a whole lot because when I have asked a question I may only get a couple replies. So I mostly just read but I have learned alot by only reading. But there are times when I wise that I knew what to post, beings I feel mine are stupid. Thanks for your time.

Okay - you need to get rid of that attitude! :D We all have those threads that just never seem to go anywhere! I know I have. Have you seen the thread called "Thread Killer". Those are some seasoned YT'ers that know everyone and everyone knows them! And even they still have those times. Please don't be shy! There are all kinds of smilies that we'll use so that you won't feel stupid!! Or least not more stupid than I often do! :D

I am so very sorry your first experience with a Yorkie was not the best. But I believe you did the best thing for Roxie, maybe a little better situation for her special needs. But at least it didn't turn you away from Yorkies, and you were able to bring Coby into your life and home, to share so much happiness with each other. Welcome again to you and Coby, you are a great addition to the YT family of friends!!!

It is sad. BUT after time, I realized that I played a big part in God's plan for Roxie. If I wouldn't have bought her from that woman (that showed so many warning signs which I ignored after looking at Roxie's face), someone else would have bought her unknowingly, and very likely, her life of abuse, neglect, and misunderstanding would have simply continued by people who don't understand puppy mill puppies and their special needs. Or she would have been abandoned in frustration of her problems. Because I got her, I was able to get her to people who were able to care for her the rest of her life. I was simply a "way" to get her where she belonged.

I don't think there really ever is a stupid question. As long as you're being honest and need an answer, we will try our darnedest to help you out. Remember we were all Newbies at one time, and often felt left out. But as you get to know one another it's a wonderful group of people, most often willing to help. Sometimes I myself will not respond to a post, not to be rude, but because I may not have anything to offer with a particular question. For example if the poster asked a question about pee pad training, I wouldn't have an answer as I've never used this method...my boys potty outside and outside only. So keep on posting, keep on asking, I promise you'll find a special place here just for you and your baby.

hi i am new and would love to get someone who would be able to talk me through all that is available on yorkie talk i don't know a blog from a thread and i'm sure i'm not the only one..i can't be active if i don't understand the language if you know what i mean..also , i am not the most computer literate person ..but am trying..admin. has tried to help but i guess i need someone to be more basic.. i am in the medical field and i certainly would not expect someone not in this field to understand all the medical terms...sooo please,please help...thanks karen scarlet

Hi! I'm new (fairly) to the YT. I have been on for gesh I don't know a week or so maybe two. I am a first time yorkie mom. I've had plenty of pets before. My dad raises beagles for hunting and I would normally have a persian cat in the house, but my hubby is allergic to cats. We were looking for a non allergic pet and the yorkie is what we both wanted. I have always wanted one and my hubby wanted a very small dog, so there we have it, the perfect pet! He is our furbaby in the truest of the sense. We have no kids and can't have any, so he's all we have and he's great! I never knew I could love something so much so fast. I don't know how I ever lived without him. Hubby is already wanting a furdaughter to go with him! I was smiling from ear to ear when he said this :) ! Looking for the perfect furdaughter...........

I think its a wonderful idea!! I really love this site especially all the cute pics!! My name is Linda I am 57, living alone with my 2 babies ansd Cats ! One is Cooper who is a yorkie and will be 2 this June. And Lucy who is a maltese who will be 3 this june. I work full time with the Lewiston ,Maine school food service, and also part time catering, and also one night a week I cook in a snack shack at a motocross park. Well got to go feed the babies before obedience class !!!!
