Feeling bad vibes on YT ?? Hi guys, like yourselfs im an absoulte YT nut, hubbys always giving of to me saying, are you on that yorkie site again. :D I dont know about you guys, but recently i have noticed that some people here are getting very bitchy and darn right rude towards other members. This is realy upseting me as i have learned so much here and knew if i had a problem, i could come straight here and have my question answered almost right away, in the nicest way possible. Now when i come on i find myself having to defend more and more members, as they have been asking simple question and the next you no they are getting bashed right left and centre. Maybe its just me, but does anyone else feel this way. |
I agree. It makes me sad. I haven't been on much lately. and that's partially because I've been so busy, but when I'm not busy I just don't want to come here to see a bunch of closed threads and angry people. :( |
Im glad you agree with me. But as you say who wants to come on here and leave upset. I sure hope we can get this sorted. |
Old Sayings.... A few old sayings came to my mind when I read this.... Some things you have to take with a grain of salt. Some times you must consider the source. Some things you have to let roll of of you like water on a duck's back. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything. If all else fails, if you don't like what you are reading, move on to something more pleasant. Pray for your enemies. Love in Christ, Teri:animal-pa |
those are good sayings..I just move on to different threads. I haven't been on here long but feel I have made some good friends and learned so much I didn't even know that I didn't know:) |

Hello suz it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums? We'd love for you to become an active member here! This is exactly why I don't post on here. Thanks for getting this topic out of the closet and into an open area!! If people would think before posting, maybe it wouldn't get so bad!! |
Here lately the breeder section has been a little rough but i havent noticed any negative posts elsewhere |

One must understand the reasons behind blunt posting...especially in the breeder's section. When people with a heart felt passion hears about tiny yorkie mommas that are being bred to produce tiny yorkies, it breaks their hearts. Many, many years have gone by where respected show breeders have tried to perfect our breed and then for someone to come along and purposely do something to change that genetic pattern to produce what is "in at the moment" ticks people off! Owners control the breeding of these girls. A dog isn't going to understand that sitting out or not being bred is in their best interest. Once their bodies go into season, they'll just respond as nature has programmed them to do. People may see shocked responses as being rude. I do not. It's one thing to flat out call someone stupid or other names. It's another to question their breeding practices. Females will continue to have heat cycles well into old age. Does this mean that they should be bred? Heavens no! I know that as a human adult, I'd hate to be pregnant when I'm in my 50s. A dog that is 6 years old has earned a healthy retirement and should be spayed so that she can live the rest of her life as a lap dog. We all want what is not only best for our beloved pets but for other people's pets as well. JMO |
everyone has different ways of speaking thru posts and many times it probably comes across as harsher than if spoken aloud ....but I really don't think people go out of their way to come across as rude...I think there are some honest direct posts then some that maybe shouldn't have been posted...but the one thing I can say is most of the people who ARE posting love yorkies. It would be too bad if no one ever spoke up for fear of being bashed because they weren't as tactful as others. I agree we should always be civil & the breeder section does seem to generate the most diverse opinions....we can either read and learn or get upset and not read...I prefer to read as I've learned alot in that section...not that I'm a breeder but you never know:p :p .....one day maybe that could change ?? Kidding !! but I do find it interesting. just saw your post txshopper - WELL said. |

Freedom of speech is what America is made up of. What I see happening is that others are interpreting constructive criticism as "bitchy" and "rude", and it isn't even directed at them, yet they feel the "need" to jump in and stir things up into a bashing frenzy. Had they not taken things into their own non-understanding ways, it would never get that far. I'm sure the folks here can address the issues put in front of them in a more intelligent way without having the flame throwers starting a riot and getting everything taken out of context making the situation bad for everyone. If someone just makes it a point to come out and make remarks that they know will cause a major riot, then why don't you join the intelligent ranks and ignore the unintelligent remarks so that they just tuck tail and go away!! |
I recently was on an 'all breed' site and OMG they were out for blood...and for the smallest things ...Same with some of the Techie sites...I usually try to find computer help by reading forums that pertain to the problem I may be having and man oh man - there's far more going on out there than I've ever seen here...YT is pretty tame when compared to other public sites Edited to add - remember all the great posts & the good people here - there's bound to be a few heated discussions but overall..this site has far more good threads than not. |

If someone don't like a thread or don't agree with something, then you need to move on. My mama always told me if you can't saying something nice, then don't say anything at all! |

Also, it's a forum, not real life, so I don't feel as one should be personally affected by what others say. It's not that big of a deal, right? As for the closed topics, I think it's just administration has gotten stricter in the sections that have items for sale, and that's where the majority of closed topics are. |

But i suppose i have been knowing to be a little sentimental at times.lol |

I wasn't going to post again here but the flip side is....yes some DO flame the posts & make it worse...I've seen someone with years of experience in breeding get bashed over comments because someone didn't like HOW they said it......and yes some ARE direct or considered rude or maybe go off topic...but the bottom line is.... it's about the YORKIES right ??? I know it can be frustrating to ask a question and not hear what you hoped to hear but I've seen some people fly off the handle at responses they received. It goes both ways.... Regarding the breeding section... people reading get to know the good and bad in the breeding world ...with all the people NEW to breeding or buying a yorkie - I think it's great that we're able to comment. That's how people learn. If no one spoke up we'd be seeing tinies being bred at every corner.......not that they aren't now :( but hopefully people learn from the heated threads as well as the happy threads...hokey as that sounds :D wow I'm chatty today...sorry. I just know there's so many really nice people here and don't want the whole site labeled over just a few not so great threads.. |

I agree, lately I have dreaded checking in on YT because of the negativity, rudeness and hostility. This used to be a fun place for me and I'm sad about what it has become recently. |
Nevermind. |
Every time this subject comes up, I sorta have to laugh. :D YT is definitely one of the NICEST sites I've been on on the web, including other pet sites. I've been on some boards where people are BRUTAL with their opinions! :D I think everyone here does a pretty good job, most of the time, expressing themselves politely. That sd. I also see the other side...that, especially on the breeding topic, there CAN be a certain snobbery, and yes, that can be a turn-off. But by and large, I really like YT just as it is. There are a lot of pet sites that are just all about oohing and ahhing over each other's puppies, and all the warm fuzzies....and there are a lot of sites that are strictly clinical and informative. I think we have a good balance here, and I'd hate to see one sacrificed for the sake of the other. I'm sensing that a lot of people come here for the community and the relationships....but a lot of us don't. A lot of us aren't here looking for "friends" and "bonding" and "kumbaya" moments. Yes, we come here to see cute puppies :D, but mainly for the INFORMATION and learning opportunities. And sometimes the exchange of experiences and opinions can get controversial. I like to think that we are all adults, and can handle that. I'll just copy-n-paste what I just sd. on this subject in another thread: I like that YT isn't a place where people get their hands held and their heads patted, no matter what. Yes, sometimes opinions could get expressed in a nicer way. But ultimately, this place is about EDUCATION...not warm fuzzies. Breeding is a huge responsibility, both to the little furry lives they bring into the world, and to the customers who hand over their wallets and their hearts and their TRUST. I absolutely think that anyone who takes all that on should not be held ABOVE accountability. And I always think about allllllll the people (who we forget about) who aren't even members of this board, but are just out there reading. Or who just happen by here one night looking specifically for a breeder to purchase a pup from. Or who maybe stumble on one thread through a google search or something. This could be the only thread that person ever reads at YT. This could be the only time that person EVER hears some of the basic standards of responsible breeding that are just taken for granted by most of us now. And before that person gets intrigued by an interesting story, or lured by cute puppy pics, and *clicks* on that breeder's website, possibly never to return here....I think that YT has the great opportunity, if not the responsibility, to point out any red flags that they notice first. It's our opportunity to make a difference!!! And I know that YT made a difference in MY yorkie buying experience in this way, and for that, I am thankful. It's definitely something I would hate to see us lose, in the name of "support" or "positivity" or "relationships". |
