YT "Featured" How do people get "featured" on YT. like Featured Storeowner, or Featured Breeder....I was just curious because some people are featured storeowners, but there are others I know of who have onlines stores, but are not "featured". What am I missing??? |
I think you have to pm admin and tell him you want to be and you have to donate the required amount |
It may have to do with donation and experience? |
The Featured Breeders and Storeowners are for professionals with their own online stores or sites for their Yorkie litters. There are a few requirements they must meet to become Featured here at YorkieTalk. The YT Featured program was implemented at the request of breeders and storeowners. thanks admin!! |

I don't mean to be rude ...but seeing a few brand new people posting in the 'featured' section raised a question ....how would one know anything about them if they aren't regular members ??? Maybe the rules need to be changed so people aren't misled ??? I'm not saying there's problems... but for new people to read "Featured (members) are held to a higher standard" makes no sense when I see no post count under their names ....Are they referred by someone here ??? |
ADDING this to my above post....I should have said it would be nice if the FEATURED section members have a proven track record here...I didn't mean to sound harsh but it would make sense that in order to be a Featured Seller...you should have history on the site first and foremost....which many do !! :) but I see some who don't.:( |
last post !! What about having a minimum requirement of posts ?? I know there are some boards that require a seller to have at least 300 posts before they can be allowed to sell - that protects the members and also assures members the seller is part of the online 'community' |

I have to agree, if I were a new member I would assume that the "featured breeders" were credible when in reality they have only paid money to be represented in that section (unless there is a process admin has set up that I don't know about). And yes, I think there should be a required amount of posts so that members know that the people selling are here for more than just making money. Just some of my thoughts~ |
Well said, Villette! :goodpost: When we see 'featured', . . . well I want to be able to feel like I'm sending my money to people I can trust. More than donation should be in the criteria. |

:) :) :) :) Oh good thank you !! I didn't want to step on toes... since this is a suggestion section...Maybe a new member can start in the REGULAR For Sale Sections while they build up a 'relationship' with people and once they meet the qualifications - then graduate to 'Featured' if they want to pay the fee ? That way people will at least be dealing with someone with a proven track record. |

i just went on the featured page which i have never done. there is someone on there that has only posted maybe 20 times. how do we know if she has high standards and gives great customer service if she has only posted approx 20 times? |
ohhhh and another thing, the people who have been members for a long time and who are featured.....doesn't this just SLAP them in the face when someone comes along just to advertise here and not be a true family member????? |
as a featured breeder, i take offense at those of you that are saying all we have to do is pay our money. that's the kind of comments made by people who haven't read the standards we are held to. And usually by some of the people that go into attack mode every time a breeder posts under the regular for sale forum and you guys all have been here long enough to know what I am referring to. They are upset with the featured breeders forum because they cannot 'educate" there. We should as breeders edducate our own buyers altho I know some probably don't. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74890 yes, Lisa, it is a slap in the face. that one slipped past I think. Posting about breeding teacups and tinies is not supposed to be allowed. |

ok...I see what you're saying...but HOW can someone with no posts be FEATURED ??? That tells me they DID just pay their money plus...how will people ever really learn what are good breeding practices vs bad if no comments are ever allowed ? I've personally learned so much from the breeders here and while I know sometimes things get heated - I do think the dogs best interests are always at the root of the posts... but thanks for saying that YT should not be promoting breeders that specifically go for extra tiny....I really agree with that ....it sets an bad example to other breeders if they see someone listed as FEATURED who is intentionally breeding tinies... not to mention - the totally outrageous prices I just saw in that section. A new person could read that and think - holy cow... I can make 5 GRAND per puppy ?? :( :( I hope YT re-thinks the qualifications. If I were new here... it would be my understanding that if someone were "Featured" it would mean PROVEN ...and I just don't see how anyone with no history here could qualify for that. Thanks for the replies on this thread...I didn't want to start anything but we all love yorkies and YT started because of that love for dogs...I know selling is important to some - but I'd hate to see it turn into another nextdaypets or puppyfind...There's already a ton of sites out there selling puppies...YT should be a safe place to buy. |

wow did I get wordy...sorry.  it wasn't my intention to point fingers and didn't when I 1st posted - but do wish we could have some revised rules for the Featured section for everyones protection. That's really all I was trying to say. |

the easiest solution I see is just asking for someone to have history here before adding them to the Featured section. |
I just wanted to mention my comments were more with regard to the Featured Stores on YT, not the breeders section. I rarely visit the breeders sections. |

Actually...I think the thread meant to be about the qualifications regarding 'Featured' sellers.....whether it be breeder or products |

thanks. I didn't understand the answer but apprecated the response. I'm still getting used to all the new rules ... |

I'm in total agreement with you, but why should the rules be revised only in the Featured breeders section. I'm sure that Admin wants YT to be held in with the uptmost ingegrity and a safe place for anyone searching or any help with a yorkie. |
I also think it would be nice for anyone who is "featured" to have a certain number of posts, ect. Not only for security reasons, but so that we can get to know the YT members that are running the stores/breeding programs, ect. I know that I like to buy from people that I've spoken to before or know a bit about although I do take chances and buy from newer people. I am "new" to selling myself and appreciate all of the people that have taken a chance purchasing from me considering I don't have the history some other sellers do :). We have a minimum post count for the gift exchange which I think is a good idea, so why not for the featured section? :) Just my .02 :) |
