Monthly Photo Contest
 

On the lab forum I chat on, one of the most fun things we do on there is have a monthly photo contest. I think it would be SOOOO much fun if we did that here! Here are some of the highlights:

*Only one entry per member -- no series of photos
*No altering of photos -- no thought balloons or borders (cropping is OK)
*The winner must have at least 100 posts (or more if we decide to change this)
*Any responses that are not entries, but only comments will be
removed to keep the contest easier to view for voting purposes.
*The winner chooses the theme for the next month's photo contest and also gets a prize provided by a generous YT member.
*Voting occurs much like the "Halloween Photo Contest" did here, except there is only ONE winner each month. --- OR, another way we could do it is admin and moderators could get together and chose the 10 they feel are best and then we could have a POLL thread and everyone could vote on their favorite out of the "top 10."
*The theme for the photo contests could be anything at all....even if it's not yorkie related...some examples of themes for the photo contests could be:
-All-time favorite photo YOU took -- could be of ANYTHING...scenery, babies, puppies, yorkies, horses, wildlife...anything as long as YOU snapped the picture
- Loveable Yorkies:Picture of your yorkie cuddling with humans or other animals, giving kisses, ect...anything of them being "lovable."
- Yorkies Gone Wild!:Picture of your yorkie doing something crazy
-ETC. ETC.

I hope you all see what I mean.

Does anyone else think this is a good idea? I would be MORE than willing to purchase a prize for one of the monthly winners. I'm sure more people on here would be willing to donate a prize, too. I just have so much fun looking through the pretty pictures throughout the month. I think it would be SO much fun here. What do yall think? :confused:

I like the idea too and gives me an insentive for taking more pictures of my Yorkies.

If we wanted to keep the photo contest strictly pictures of yorkies and not ever do miscellaneous themes, we could keep the monthly photo contest thread as a STICKY in the "MY YORKIE" section. OR if we wanted to do Miscellaneous themes at times, we could make it a STICKY in the OFF TOPIC discussion area or maybe make a new forum for "FUN STUFF" where jokes and things of that nature could be posted.

I also want to BUMP this up again to get more feedback.

Well, since the rules would stipulate that each member can only submit one photo per monthly photo contest, if you wanted both of your babies pictures entered, you would just have to find a pic with both babies in it and submit that one. That is what they do on the lab board. Or if you have an awesome pic with just one of them in it, then just submit that one. Even if you have multiple babies, all of them don't have to be in the pic. You just select a pic, any pic that you took, that fits the theme. If one of your babies is in it, that's fine. If all of your babies are in it, that is fine also.

Since some of us do not have stores to donate gifts what if
the person who wins for the month sends the winner before it
a doggie gift and this way everyone gets to donate:p

I think I want one without themes . . . less work for me :p that is if I even have time to do it :rolleyes:

I think just great photos of the yorkie should suffice. I am willing to donate a prize too. :thumbup:

Also, it is best to separate a puppy contest from an adult yorkie contest as puppies are just wayyyyy too adorable!

The reason for the themes is you have to be creative on what pictures you submit. If there was no theme, alot of people would submit the same cute picture every month. It is also fun to see all the creative pictures that are posted according to that theme. One of the ways you win is by posting the best picture that fits the theme.

I'm not sure I'd submit any pics -- I am a TERRIBLE picture taker, but I do love to look at all of the incredible photography AND I'd LOVE to donate a prize.

I'm all for it! I just looked at all the lab pics and they are hilarious and adorable. I couldn't decide on any that I liked best. It this works, it should be alot of fun. But I really need help on posting pics. (Hint-Hint).:D

Maybe we could have a theme like nature, other pets, skin kids, puppys, yorkies dressed up, yorkies at play, yorkies with other pets. I think this would be fun.
