Admin - suggestions & comments Admin - I have a few suggestions & comments - they're just my opinion and not meant to hurt or upset anyone. Just food for thought. Gift Exchange JMO but I think that "donating members" should also have to be on YT for a "period of time" as well as "100 posts" before they're able to participate... because we all know that you can rack up 100 posts in a day or so - if you want to. (I think it should be something like 45 days.) "Answer a question with a question"/"Thread Killer" in the Off Topic thread Personally, I think these two threads are a waste of space - alot of space. I think the space would be better used having a thread that really has something to do with Yorkies than playing a game that you always put "won't I?" after. There seems to only be about a half a dozen people using them and they take up the most space - and the majority of what they talk about could be done in the chatroom. It's not of any substance or importance to dog owners/lovers. I'd much rather see the space used for something proactive like petitions to help close down the "back yard breeders", "petstores", and "puppymills" or the YT Railroad. With all the problems with the server, I'd really like to see better use of that space - nothing personal people - just an observation and suggestion. Puppies for Sale Also, I think it would be a good idea for those who wish to post a puppy for sale that they, too, should have to have a certain number of posts & time spent here - prior to using the space. I've seen way too many new people come in on their first post place a for sale ad. I also think that the form they use should include a little more info and if it's not completed that the computer declines it until it is completed - in full. Kind of like when you're filling out an application or placing an order.... it comes back with a little red * when you haven't filled it in correctly. Is that possible? There are a few items that could be added on to the form that would be of immense help to prospective buyers. I just think it's a little unfair that "store owners" pay to use the For Sale space but new people can come in here and literally use it and leave. The rest of the people have been here and continue to support YT without question. I still think that it's great to have a free forum, but I think the free part should be limited to "read only". There's alot of good information in this forum, and when I first came on all I did was read, read, read (I still do). I think if that's all you want out of YT, then that's great and it shouldn't cost you a dime. But I think if you want to be a part of this community, I think you should have to put a little something in to it - a donation. There's been alot of disruption lately. People came in and riled up regular members and then left. I, personally, didn't appreciate it. I didn't mind an opposing view, but I didn't appreciate the constant harassment of a few singled out members. I'm a loyal and honest person and it annoyed me seeing this. And if you plan on staying in this forum you wonder about how your statements are going to be taken - when others that have no stake in YT come in and attack. Maybe they wouldn't have if they would have had to "join" YT - but if that didn't matter, then at least we would have had their contribution! :D Again, just my opinion... Thank You Admin... for providing us with a great place to come to everyday! :good job: :yorkietal |
Just a thought. All the other stuff you said is fine but The OFF TOPIC threads are just that hun. and thats what makes YT Great you can Talk with all your friends and learn about Yorkies and get tips from others. JMO |
But didn't they just set up a "chat room" for that kind of talk? I mean there's only about 6 of you that talk back and forth. It's really not stuff that needs to be "posted" where others can come back and "refer" to it. It's mostly just your comments back and forth - that are taking up alot of space hun. Just pointing it out. |

I agree Admin - suggestions & comments -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I so agree with this post. it gripes me big time that people like myself have been here foir a long time and have to wait until puppies are ten weeks old to post them, yet everyday new peoplee join, make one for sale post, sell their little dog and are gone until they get their next dog for sale. But it has done me no good at all to complain. it falls on deaf ears or so it seems. i know admin does a great job and it is a big job, but this is one area that the rules need to be changed, again, to help those of us that do donate and are longtime members instead of helping the new guys. Puppies for Sale Also, I think it would be a good idea for those who wish to post a puppy for sale that they, too, should have to have a certain number of posts & time spent here - prior to using the space. Thank you for your suggestions! We have had a few problems lately with the Gift Exchange, mainly with newer members. We will most likely institute a 30 day rule for members that want to participate in the Gift Exchange, that is members must be Donating Members with 100 posts and be a YT member for 30 days or more before they can participate in the Gift Exchange. The YorkieTalk team monitors the Yorkies For Sale section very closely to ensure the rules are followed. Occasionally, a thread may get through and show up for a few hours. We do review our For Sale policies periodically. We want what is best for Yorkies and we find that many YorkieTalk members have provided for great homes for many Yorkies that were posted in the For Sale section here. Since we don't make any money at all when a person posts a Yorkie For Sale thread nor when a Yorkie is placed, we are not doing anything for financial reasons, purely so that those YT members that are looking for Yorkies can find one through YT. There are hundreds of places people can post a Yorkie for sale for no cost at all with no rules at all. We only ask those that post a new thread to follow the For Sale rules. What more information would you suggest we have on the "For Sale" form? We definitely do take suggestions. We do have a Featured Yorkie Products For Sale section for Featured YT Storeowners, for those that are interested. The For Sale section helps all YT members, if an item is priced too high, it usually won't sell. Members have gotten some great deals from For Sale threads. When a member does abuse the For Sale section, we do take action. As far as Off Topic threads, any forum will have off topic threads, they are helpful, useful, necessary, and wanted by members. People can get tired of just talking "Yorkies". Many members have found great friends and learned new things from the Off Topic section. An example would be when a member has a technical computer problem and doesn't know what to do, and posts a question. Usually another YT member will offer advice or know what to do. While you may not personally gain any benefit from those particular threads you mentioned, there are members that highly enjoy those type of threads. YorkieTalk only asks that basic YT rules are followed in those threads. We generally allow most topics to be talked about though religion, politics, or other controversial subjects may not be allowed here. Those threads really don't take up much space on YT, the server issues are more related to the number of people online at once as well as YT searches by members. Also, since you now know what those two threads are all about, it's quite easy to ignore them or go onto the next thread that you are interested in reading. The YT chat room is always available, but not everyone wants or can use it and some feel more comfortable posting in the forums only. Thank you for your feedback, feel free to reply or PM us directly at any time. |
Thank you Administration!! |

Good posting, admin. Thank you! :) |
Smooch! :kiss3: We love you admin. :luvu: You made our day much brighter! :ghug: |
A few more Their are so many members and alot have probably been inactive for years. I think after 90days of inactivity/no posts your account should be deleted, that would clear up some space if they kept anything in their mailbox/photos, etc. or email & require a donation to keep it active or user id, pms, pics & all threads started by & posts will be deleted-just the whole account. Definately if they havent logged on in a year-delete. Just a thought. |

THANK YOU ADMIN...............YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!! |
You said," What more information would you suggest we have on the "For Sale" form? We definitely do take suggestions. I know I felt done wrong recently when I started another thread on this subject. Not by admin but here is what happened. i couldn't post my puppies here because they weren't ten weeks old so I placed an ad in the paper. Some one called and expressed an interest in my puppies. i was so excited to tell them all about YT and what a wonderful place it is. Imagine to my surprise that very night i saw a "for sale' ad by this person. Sure it was for an older dog but was it fair..? had I known she was a breeder looking for a place to sell her dogs and not interested in anything but that, I would never have recommended the site to her. We didn't know her or anything about her but she was allowed to make her first post a for sale ad. I have gotten to know her since then and she is a good person as far as I know. Then a few of her friends started coming along making one post to sell their dogs and here I still sit with mine (at the time). But fortunately, ALL my puppies went to great YT members that have gotten to know me over the time I have been here and trust me. i sold every single one of mine to yt people that watched them grow in the nursery so they were sold anyway before the ten weeks. I still think you should put a post min. before ANYONE can sell on the for sale forum. I mean, what do we know about these sellers that "hit and run". I understand you providing a place for people to buy and sell but once again, the new rule is hurting us and might even be the cause of aa member getting scammed from someone no one knows. |
I agree....After what happened to a yorkie recently who went to someone with only 1 post - it may be a good idea to get people to have a minimum before letting them sell OR buy |

I agree with sugarmom. I don't think new members should be allowed to come on here and sell anything , Dog, pet products,clothing.etc. I feel they just come here for that reason. And most of these don't donate either. I wish that there was a rule in place ...In order to sell anything, advertise your site you must be a donating member. This seems to be more and more frequent latelty. Also , I don't thing the OP was talking about OT threads in general. This all is JMO. |
How about if we added something to the for sale ad regarding genetic testing. Whether or not the dogs have been tested for that and STD's. |

New puppies that haven't been bred shouldn't have any STD's to be tested for right? |
Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about. Letting buyers know the parents had been tested and checked for genetic problems and STDs, not the puppies. |

I didn't/don't have a problem with the Off Topic Thread at all! I thought the ones with the large number of posts were taking up space. But if Admin says they aren't - that's good enough for me. It was just something I "thought" would help alleviate the problems with the server. |
