Still can't get on YT from home
 

Do the tech guys of YT have any suggestions PLEASE?! I'm really at my wit's end. I can get on YT fine from work.

I was posting a thread on Saturday evening - I got a "forbidden to post" message. Then, within 5 or 10 mins, I could no longer load anything on YT. I tried from both my normal Firefox browser and my IE browser.

I have cleared cookies and cache, rebooted, unplugged and replugged my modem, wiped out my dns, rebooted and I've done this about 3 times. I even downloaded Google Chrome because someone told me they could only get on YT on Chrome.

That doesn't work either. Help please!

Did you PM Admin and tell about your problem?

Yes...a few days ago. He said he will have his tech guys look at it.

That happened to me....I sent admin an email and they fixed it. Copy the message you get when you try to connect and email it to him!

That happened to me as well. I emailed admin through FB & sent them a copy of my trace route (How to Use the Traceroute Command). It was cleared up the next day. I feel your frustration!

I just wanted to expand upon my previous reply. It seems like a lot of members are having this issue. I'm pretty sure that the reason you can't log on from home - but CAN log on from work - is because your home IP address is being blocked by YT. I'm not sure why exactly. It probably is a little bug from the server update. But this is what I did...

I ran a traceroute on my computer & sent it to admin via Facebook. A traceroute shows exactly where the connection from your computer to YT is failing. Here's how to run a traceroute: How to Use the Traceroute Command
After you run it, copy & paste the entire traceroute to a text file & email it as an attachment to YT via FB. This will let admin know where the conflict is occuring. It will also allow admin to unblock your IP.

In the meantime, you can access YT through a proxy website. A proxy website will block your home IP address & connect to a website using an alternate IP address. Here's a list of multiple proxy websites:

Good luck! It took me an entire day to figure all of that out. It was a long day of trial & error and adjusting multiple settings on my computer. Hopefully, I'll be able to save someone else the frustration of having to go through all that. I hope that works for you!

Thanks for the tips, Teresa! It would be a long weekend for sure. I hope Admin will see the message I send on FB. I've been posting on the FB page for over a week with absolutely no reply. I'm sorry if I sound aggravated - I truly am.

I hear ya! I was aggravated too! I felt so lost :( You'll be able to get on at home with one of those proxy websites. I think it's happening to a lot of members. Maybe that's why you haven't gotten a reply yet. Hang in there ;)

I think about you all of the time and sure hope that YT tech guy can work something out for you. This is such a shame and I know you are pulling your hair out! I'm hoping to see you on all the time soon.

I PM'd Admin and got a message from him that said to flush your DNS settings. Here is the link he gave me.

I don't know if this is something you have tried before or not but hope it works if you haven't.
