That thread use to be fun to read, and everything was going fine for a long time. There was one weekly contest where people took turns to enter their dogs and people supported them, the winner got $200, and no one competed against each other, and waited their turn. That all changed when someone posted a link to the million dollar contest, and people all decided to enter their dogs, and there was even a way to take votes away from people. This really upset members to see that their dogs were getting negative votes, and many fights ensued. People started posting threads about the contest on other YT forums, which is against YT rules, and there were also vent threads about people cheating. So when the prize was just a couple of hundred bucks, Yorkietalkers were very supportive of each other, but when it went up to a million, greed rose it ugly head.

i agree and pardon me for saying but it also has some of the ugliest yorkies I have ever seen. I wouldn't vote for an ugly dog just because it belongs to a YT member. Guess I better duck under my chair now!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

i am so sick of the contest posts. the official vote thread is hard to find and most people don't know about it. even when they do know about it they will still post in the general section. its so annoying.

Twalla, thank you for starting this thread. I, too, am tired of all of the "VOTE FOR ME" threads --both for furkids and skinkids. Those requests should be made either in the appropriate forum OR via pm's. I think it will take all of us grumps reporting the threads to get them stopped. :D

Yup, I remember that, Uni lost :eek: but oh well b/c it was fun! Jackson won 2nd place on the first week! :thumbup: I even told one of the banned YT members, (I think we all know who) to put a vote request in her signature, you can get votes that way and not even really have to "ask", but no she had to be dumb and ended up banned. I had a vote request in my signature and I got votes that way.

also, who the heck thinks they are really gonna win a million dollars??? esp with that bear thingy with 10s of 1000s of votes!

Yup I'm one of the grumps, and I was nicely reminding people where those threads go, but it didn't really do anything, so I've started ignoring those posts all together now. I think the rule needs to be enforced more, threads getting deleted instead of moved for the offenders to get the picture.

Oh you mean the stuffed animal? I can't believe that dog is real! If Uni can't win, nobody can win!

If a computer can make an exact replica of a room then why cant it make a "cute" dog? I didn't even bother after the second week with that contest. I feel silly for entering it. The "one lady" got banned? After coming back so many times jsut to have them vote?

It's getting a little.... INSANE! There are other REAL contests out there that many Yter's would have a better chance at winning.

It's very appreciated if people report those posts, bc we are trying to delete them - but we may not catch them all without a 'lil help :). If a member continues to post voting threads even when asked not to, I think further action is taken when needed.

I dont need a contest to tell me Pasquale is cute...i know he's stinkin' adorable...and to me, i've already won 1 million dollars ....OF LOVE!!! I agree with everyone else...those posts are just strange.

Ann, it is ok to ask for votes in a members signature, correct? That is what I did when I entered Uni in the dog ballot a few months ago. If this is ok, maybe we can post a thread that just says to ask for votes in a signature so that it's not just a bunch of vote for me posts all the time? They are getting really annoying. There are so many newbies that seem to register just so they can get votes.

You are SOOOO right! Normally I don't even open the threads that want votes. Today I did. I could not believe this person wanted votes for their dog. In the picture, the dog's hair was not even brushed, very scraggly looking and in need of a bath. I don't get involved in the contests, too much mud slinging at times. lol Not only that, but if you are going to enter your dog in a contest, for pete's sake, brush it's hair before taking the picture rather than letting the poor thing look like a rag-a-muffin. No, that is NOT cute. lol

I know those threads are annoying...and about 5 have been reported/deleted today - so THANK YOU for reporting those, it's so helpful! :)

{I know sometimes people feel weird about reporting posts...but it truly is helpful as there is no way we can read allll of the posts on YT. If posts/threads are reported, we can take action asap. And if you don't see any "action" taken, no worries, it may just mean that the post/thread is being watched for a while (maybe it's in a gray area or something) - so don't take it as you reporting it was futile, or *not* helpful...bc it always is :).}
