And if someone has stuff they just want to give away and aren't worried about a trade, I believe we've always been allowed to do that. I've donated several harnesses, etc., over the years... |

Yep Im pretty sure thats how it is, I think that will happen too. |
A lot of fantastic ideas floating around. I can't wait for the Trader's Forum to get implemented. What a fun NEW way to spend time at YT! |
Hm. Well, I didn't understand the GE rules at first either, but it ended up making sense. I guess maybe I'll just post some stuff for free on the 'For Sale' forum. If it's trading, it doesn't seem very "gifty", and for me, it would be back to what keeps me from doing that kind of stuff in the first place, the headache of assessing values, bargaining, searching through multiple threads for stuff I want, etc. I'll be interested to see it, whatever it turns out to be. |

I'm sure it is simpler. What excited me about a GUGE or Treasure Box was the idea that people would be getting gifts, albeit used. I liked the idea of people posting pictures of their yorkies using the things they got, thanking the original giver, etc. I'm sure a lot of people would like a trading forum, and again, I'll be interested to see it, but it doesn't jazz me up the same way. |

Well... to make it easier, couldn't there be one person (who frequents YT A LOT) to be assigned directly to the trading forum. Whenever a post is 100% finished trading, it can be closed. That way members looking to trade, can look over the posts that are already dead and closed. This will benefit those who get tired of going through each post in the for sale threads looking for something their baby needs or they want. Right? Would there also be a way to delete certain threads after they're so old? Say, someone makes a post for trades, everything is traded off, thread gets closed and has been closed for say 3+ months, the thread can be deleted? This would be so easy for someone who gets on at least once a day and has at least an hour to devote to the trade forum. It will stay clean and be easy for all members. :) |
By the way, I'm sure I'm not the only one who was so confused with the first page of posts on this particular thread, I was ready to just hit the X. I don't know how many times I read over certain things trying to understand it. May just be me but oh well... just wanted to state it in case someone else is afraid to. |
To me, it seems very different. I'm not sure I'll be able to explain better than I have. For me, the original inspiration was the Gift Exchange, which from one point of view is completely pointless and unecessary. Why go to the trouble of sending a stranger things that they can just buy for themselves? A Treasure Box doesn't have the concept of "fair value", whereas trading does. I like the idea of giving things and maybe getting something, not giving to get. If that makes sense. Again, I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade if this what gets people excited. |

I was understanding it as... someone else keeps up with the tokens that you have? If you trade off something, you get a token to get something else? I didn't see it say anything about shipping... would the person trading the item off pay the shipping or the person receiving the item? I don't know, I think now I'm just confusing myself. |

After post #21 people were talking more of the one on one trades and that doesn't have to be an equal value trade off. Say for example Twalla has a jacket you would like for your Yorkie and she opens it up to any offers accepted. You could offer a smoochie lips toy which is of nowhere near equal value but the chances are she's going to accept it because Sam really loves that toy and his broke. One on one trading would allow the OP poster to read over all offers and then pick which one they would like to trade or not make a trade if there was nothing they liked. I understand what you're saying about the GE and I agree, but the spirit of that was to get to know other members better and make new friends. I know the box idea would allow for that to happen too but I still don't see how the box is more of a gift that a trade when like I said earlier you are still trading your items for ones in the box. (Typed in a polite way with no ill intent :p) |
