My baby may have GME
 
I have had the worst two days of my life. My sweet Charlie was walking funny this week, almost sideways and seemed to be favouring his left side. I figured he had been injured, so I brought him to the vet yesterday. Well, that ended up in an emergency referral to the University vet clinic and he saw the neurologist, who diagnosed him with possible GME. He is currently there getting an MRI and a spinal tap. I'm worried sick, cannot stop crying and cannot understand why this is happening to my innocent baby. He just loves life and is always so feisty. I cannot believe this is happening to us.

The results of the MRI show that he has necrotizing encephalitis. I am heartbroken and sick over this and just devastated. I cannot tell you how much I love this dog. He is a wonderful little guy and always brings a smile to my face. They are currently doing a spinal tap and then depending on how he recovers from the anesthetic, I may be able to pick him up. We will try steroids, but the neurologist said he maybe has weeks to months left. Please pray that I have the strength to make the right decisions for my little angel.

I opened up a candle group under CHAR for little charlie. lets all light a candle for him,it always works when we unite in prayer for these babies.

I am so so sorry to hear about little Charlie. I am not familiar with GME and will have to read up on it but from what you are saying it doesnt sound promising. I hope and pray you have the strenght the endure what ever is ahead and little Charlie does as well. I am sorry again.

My beautiful little Charlie passed away on Wednesday. He also had a collapsing trachea, which the vet thought was affected by the GME. He was not able to make it out of the anesthesia used to do the MRI and spinal tap. He could not breathe properly and he was unable to get enough oxygen, without being assisted. We had to make the awful decision to let him go, but I could not bear to watch him suffer. The vet said there was no hope of his breathing getting better. I am just absolutely devastated and overcome with grief. The house is not the same. I have three pugs as well, but they also know that something is wrong. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. I hope my Charlie is in a better place now and knows how very much he was loved.
