The ticks can still bite and stay attached but the frontline kills them. I took Squeaky to the Vet for allergies and while waiting, I found a seed tick. The Vet removed it and it was dead. She said that the frontline was working - it killed the tick but you still have to check the babies to remove any dead ones. |

WOW! I never heard/seen those either! Thanks for posting, so now if I ever DO see them on Rocky or Bella, I'll know what it is..I'll still freak out, but at least I'll know about it:p I'm glad you caught them on her quick enough. Is she doing O.K? |
seed ticks I had a GIANT problem with ticks a few years ago. I live in Arizona, and have never seen anything like it. I have lived in this house for 10 years. The first 5 years, I didnt see a flea, tick or anything else. Then, in a mater of a week, my dogs were covered head to toe with seed ticks. I have no idea where they came from. I picked, sprayed, bathed, bombed, cleaned over and over and over again. They got in the house too. It was a nightmare!!!!! I would have to check my cloths before I went out of the house or to work. They were all over the yard. I could see them running up the garden hose and onto the porch. I would pick them off each dog, then the next day, they would be covered again. I used Zodiac flea and tick shampoo for puppies and kittens and Zodiac house bombs as well as apholstery spray. It took a good year of picking, spraying, bathing, cleaning, and bombing to finally get rid of them. I havent seen a tick now in 3 years. I have never seen anything like it. It was the most nasty, horrible thing I have had to deal with in my life. So get on it. Dont let them multiply!!! Good luck, Lynn |

I haven't seen anymore today, so hopefully this is all over.... |
Thank you for the information plus pictures. Makes my head itch. |
WOW! After I saw this post, I checked Lexi completely. She doesn't have them. I have not put any flea & tick meds on her since Aug 06'. I hate the smell & it is all oily. I was using K9 Advantix. Then, I read that it has these strong toxins in it & I was like...... NOOOOOOO. I am not putting them on her. I am concerned now though. I was at the hardware store today & I overheard this guy say his vet found a bunch of ticks on his dog this afternoon. He lives in my neighborhood. Now, I don't know what to do... Can anyone recommend any natural products for me to use on Lexi's hair as a preventative? This makes me itchy !! |
Alot of people here use the all natural preventatives. I can't remember which ones they are. I think that some people use garlic for fleas. Not sure if there is something for ticks though. Good luck. Quote:
