My pup was on prednizone for about 6 weeks after a case of menengitis and encephalitis. She was more irritable, gained a lot of water weight, had potty inconsistencies, and ate a lot more. But, being someone who has had experience with the human elderly, these are general symptoms for humans who take the drug as well. It truly saved my pup's life, and I was willing to put up with her inconsistencies in normal behavior for what it was doing for her. I know that not all medicines work the same for everyone. I hope that you can find a good remedy for your pet. In serious cases, human or canine, sometimes prednizone is the only choice. But us yorkie mommies would do anything to save their lives, right? |

Doniasea@aol.com sells the enzymes for food and she recommends newman's own dog food but prefers home cooked diet and coconut oil, hemp oil as well - coconut is like vitamin e and hemp is a natural anti-inflammatory - she is a great nutritionist that has helped many dogs - she is against steroids and says food is your best medicine - also i give dd probiotics dds plus as if the gut is healthy and the immune system strong then less allergic reactions |
we have been going to a dermatologist for a year and dd is now on atopica and temaril p but i am now working with a nutritionist doniasea@aol.com to get her off the meds - atopica is better than steroids however - less side effects - i opted not to do allergy shots as have not heard of too many positive responses. The derm said if the front half is itchy then food allergy and best food i have heard over and over is home cooked or natural balance duck and potato- if back half itchy then flea allergy and then all over itchy is environmental. I put a tshirt on dd at all times to ward off the allergents and since she went after her neck she wears a sock around her neck now. I bath her in ketachlor and use resiprox for leave on lotion both from vet/dermatologist. Resiprox does not have steroids in it so will not thin out the skin as steroids does. |
