Another Update: Newman and Jersey. Hi guys. I'm feeling much better today. I think I was having a small break down yesterday. LOL. We got some good news today. Newman's Lymph Node Pathology Report came back today and his Lymph Nodes are clean. THANK GOD. So now we will procede with the next step and have his ultra sound done and his chest x ray. We were able to speak with the doctor today to try to make sense and get a clear answer as to how much we are looking at total and he assured us that it would be no more then the $2000 (Including the pre-op tests etc) for Newman's surgery. Originally we had been told $1500 just for the surgery and then the pre-op tests etc. which would bring us to no more then $2,000 but the pre-op tests were getting higher and higher and we were up to almost $1000 without the surgery. Our doctor is doing the surgery itself for $1000.00 which I know (Although he didn't say it) is giving us a break of about $500. Now Jersey's update. She was spayed this morning and seems to be doing well. She threw up a little tonight and is very tired but doesn't seem to be in pain. Just sleepy. Miss Tia is very happy to have her sister home. We brought her with us to pick Jersey up and Jersey just kissed and kissed her as did Tia Jersey. Let's just stay they were very happy to see each other:) I also got a bit of a break with the cost too. Originally it was supposed to be $410 to spay her and in the end he knocked it down to a total of $350.00. Thanks everyone for your wonderful notes and good wishes. Please, continue to keep my Newman in your thoughts. Your support has meant a lot to me. Elaine |
Good news on Newman!! You need to hear something good and I'm so glad you got a good report. I know you're happy Jersey is home with you. She'll feel better tomorrow. Take care, Kim |
Hi Kim. I just sent you a PM. Thank you so much for your nice post - both here and on my other post. I really appreciate it. Elaine |
Newman and Jersey :hearts-en Oh, that is great news about Newman, and the fact that his lymph nodes are clear is a huge bonus. I had a soft buster collar for Charlie, and it was so much nicer than the hard plastic to keep him from licking his sutures. Everything is okay, Elaine and I had several breakdowns over Sophie, and another in front of the dental surgeon over Charlie. Not to worry, you love them and this is very stressful. Bless you and your sweet kids. Warmly, Deborah |
Deborah. Deborah. Thank you so much for all your warm notes and wishes. You have been so supportive and I really appreciate it. We actually have Jersey in a onsie. LOL. I have to take a picture of her in it. We got her 0-3 months and I think I should have gotten her newborn as she slid right out of it. Ha ha. She has not gone after her stitches as of yet (knock on wood). Our doctor actually does not believe in the cones at all, unless he absolutely needs to put one on. He is the one that suggested the Onsie. She's sleeping now and does not seem to be in pain. She had a cookie just a little bit ago. I think she's just hung over from the all the drugs. Thank you again. I can't say enough how wonderful everyone has been. This is just such a great site and place to be and I'm happy to be a member here. Elaine |
That is great news on Newman and I am so happy Jersey is home and thru the worst part. I will keep you all in my prayers. |
Thank You Patti. Thank You Patti. As I said, I am so grateful for this site and everyone on it. Elaine |
Oh Elaine...that is great news. God is watching over you and your family hun. I'm so happy to hear that you are happy because I know how stressed out you been. I'm glad Jersey is home and feeling okay.. You are always in my thoughts a prayers. |
Still hoping and praying that all goes well with Newman...so far so good. And Jersey will also be in my prayers...I bet she's a little doll in her onesie!!! Keep your chin up, I know it's been a difficult time for you and yours. And I'm sending extra hugs to help get you thru this. My thoughts are with you, truly. |
awww so glad it has gotten a little better! and that's great news to hear about newman!!! will still be thinking about you lots and sending lots of t&p for you and newman. So glad the spay went well with jersey. and that's just adorable about tia and jersey. they sure do love each other. :) |
Sending healing to Jersey and Newman. Just think, Elaine, in a few months all of this stress will be in the past. Your family will be looking forward to sharing the holidays. Warmly, Deborah |
Can you hear me cheering? I haven't been able to get on much lately, but this is one of a handful of threads I've been trying to follow. I was so glad to see this when I logged on tonight. I know how tough this has been and I have a good idea of how tough it will be once it's done. But ... you now have something to hope for. We can live without many things in life for an extended period of time. Food, water, even love. But hope ... we must have that! I am so glad you do. Thoughts and prayers continue for all of you. :) |
I'm still praying for little Newman. I hope all will go well for him. Glad Jersey is getting all better. She'll be good as new real soon.:) |
Thanks again everyone. Jersey is back to her devilish self. LOL. I'm supposed to keep her quiet until the 22nd. when she goes back for her post op check and stitch removal but it's almost impossible. You wouldn't know she had surgery only two days ago. Our doctor called today about Newman. He is waiting for the person that will be coming to do his ultra sound. We figure that his chest x ray and ultra sound will be done prob. Tuesday or Wed. If everything is alright then Newman will go ahead and have his amputation. That probably won't take place until the following week as I really don't want him operated on at the end of the week then not have a vet around on the weekend. I like Monday operations if they need to be done, this way someone is there all week if I need them. Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks again everyone. Elaine |
Thinking of you and praying for Newman...May God Bless You Both. |
Thinking of Jersey and Newman. Sending good thoughts your way, Elaine. Warmly, Deborah |
How is Newman? Wondering how Newman is tonight, and if the testing was completed. Warmly, Deborah |
I too have been thinking about Newman...how's he doing? Testing done yet, and the results? Best wishes to Newman and his family...be well, be happy...take care. |
Newman Update. Hi everyone. Thanks for all the concern. We are on our way to the hospital in about 10 minutes for the ultra sound and chest x ray. This is really dragging out. Nothing I can do. Our vet waits until he has a few getting ultra sounds then calls the girl out to do them. RIDICULOUS, especially when I'm paying $500 for it AND 1/2 day hospital stay (Which is really ticking me off) because they schedule them one after another and they want the dog left there so I guess it makes it easier - like an assembly line. Sorry, I'm just getting testy lately. I just want this done now. Newman, had a bad weekend and I ended up giving him one of Jersey's pain pills that she was given last week after her spaying. She's doing GREAT. No pain. Would not even know it was done. I'm pushing for him to do this this week, but they tell me it will take a couple of days for the ultra sound results. Another that sounds ridiculous to me, but i'm going to speak to the doctor this morning and push him to get the results asap and do the surgery this week. Thanks again and I'll keep everyone posted. |
That sounds incredibly frustrating. Even the best of vets seem to be able to detach themselves a bit too much sometimes.Try not to let it drag you down too much. These little guys feel our emotions so acutely … Glad to hear that all has gone well with Jersey. You certainly deserve a break somewhere! Thoughts and prayers continue for you and your Newman for the best possible outcome.:) |
Thanks for the update. I'm praying for Newman & for you. |
Thanks for the update, Elaine. Remember, "this too shall pass" and recognize that you are in "fear - flight" mode. Sounds like the right decision to give him a pain pill because he doesn't need to suffer. Look forward to another post and try to remain "centered". This is scary for you - Deborah |
Still Waiting. Well, we brought Newman in for 8am this morning. He was scheduled for his ultra sound for 10:30 am. When we first got there they told me to come back at 4pm to pick him up and I said "Whoa, 4pm. Why so long. He's scheduled for an ultra sound at 10:30." I then told them that as it is I find it ridiculous that I have to get him here at 8am and leave him with you in a cage until 10:30, so I spoke to the doctor and he agreed that he'd be ready for pick up by noon. Well, it's now 11:30 am and guess what? He's not yet done. The Ultra sound tech JUST GOT THERE and there are a few to do. I'm sorry I'm venting right now but I am just so frustrated. I mean with the amount of money being paid ($500) for an ultra sound, you would think that the tech doing it would arrive on time. I hate him being in the cage so long un necessarily. He does not do well being caged, especially in a strange place. Also, the doctor did say that his intentions were to do Newman's surgery this week, and I am grateful for that at least so he is not suffering longer then necessary. Elaine |
Oh, poor Newman:( I agree with you 100%. Why cage him for that length of time? I'm glad the surgery will be done this week. The sooner it's done the sooner he can start recuperating. Hang in there Elaine. I'm still praying for Newman and you. |
Aw, poor little guy and poor mommy. I'd be upset too. Why do they do those things?! I just don't understand. But I'm glad he'll be having his surgery soon. Here's a hug for you!:girl_hug: |
Back From Ultra Sound. Hi all. We are back from picking Newman up from his ultra sound and chest x ray. The doc. put a rush in for the results and as of right now, we are shooting for a Friday surgery "IF" his ultra sound results came back clear. I'm keeping positive thougts that it is clear since, his blood came back good and his pathology report showed no cancer in the lymph nodes. I'm very very anxious to have this done and very worried at the same time. Hubby is concerned having the surgery done on a Friday as he's afraid that he won't get as good a care over the weekend, but I'm comfortable with it I think or atleast I'm trying to be. The docs. are around most of Saturday and part of Sunday and I'm sure they just dont' shut the doors and leave them unattended (At least I hope) but I will ask these questions prior to Friday. If he's done Friday, he'll spend about two days in the hospital and then come home to us, which will work out well as I'd like him home for a few days with us before having to leave him for hours. I don't work. I'm home all day with him, but both my boys have tournaments the 24, 25, 26 and 27. Local thankfully so I can check on him, but we'll be gond that Saturday starting with my oldest having an 8am bb game and then my youngest a 10:45, then a 5:30 then my oldest having another at 6:30 that night and then two games on that Sunday. Anyway, thank you all again from bottom of my heart for all your support. Both Newman and I thank you. Elaine and Newman. |
Thanks for the update. I would question who checks on Newman on Sunday, how often, etc. if surgery is completed on Friday. Would you be able to visit him? This is such a stressful time for you and your family. Take care, Deborah |
Praying for Newman. All the best for Friday. |
Still here saying my daily prayers for Newman...I hope all goes well for the little guy. It's okay to vent with us...we can take it...stay positive for Newman, as he needs you. |
Kathy, thanks for the update. Prayers that it all goes well for Newman this week & for you and your family. |
