up-date on Dudley i finally got off long enough to get his ultra-sound and again, nothing. They took a urine sample and yesterday reported that he had glucose in his urine that wasn't present the first time they tested. They gave me some test sticks and I am to test his urine & let her know. Dudley is now down to 3 1/4 pounds and walks like an old dog that has lost his zest for life. I cry every time I see him walking. I can't figure this out. He seems better then a day or two later he is sick again. Please pray for him. |

Oh sweety I'm so sorry you are going through this. Having a sick baby is like going through a emotional rollercoaster and heartbreak. My prayers are with you and your baby for a speedy recovery. |

Well both sticks they gave me turned brown for glucose. They think he has kidney disease where the glucose goes into the urine and maybe other things also are leaking also. I am taking him this afternoon for more tests.Please keep praying. |

He doesn't have diabetes, but they still don't know what he does have. They took 8 more tests yesterday and will let me know the results as they trickle in. God I hope they find something, so they know how to treat him. |
Poor Dodley and you! Finger's crossed that the latest tests show something to work with. When Buddy was sick sometime ago he got down to 11lbs and looked so frail since he is a larger Yorkie. Old vet said it was the food, he had diahrea all the time. I tried so many foods over 4mos and home cooking, I finally changed doc's. New vet wormed him. Turned out he had a male parasite in his intestines that was causing him problems. 48hrs later he was back to normal. After 4mos it was a parasite.:( Hope you have luck finding out Dodley's problem and he also can get back to his old self. Finger's crossed they find something. |

This vet is a specialist and the 3rd vet I have been to. I wasn't satisfied with the first, the second referred me to the specialist because he couldn't figure outwhat was wrong with him.I think she knows what she is doing, but if she doesn't come up with an answer I will switch again. I love Dudley more than anything! |

Thank you for your prayers I think they are helping. Sorry to take so long to answer. I have been so worried. I thought he was going to die for sure. When I went back to the vet on Thurs. they gave me some ampicillin to give him. She thought it was a kidney infection, but took more tests to be sure. Well as of yesterday a miracle happened and he is so much improved!! He started eating last evening. Probably only a teaspoon but I don't care. He ATE!! Today he ate a little more and wanted to eat again at lunch time. I only gave him a teaspoonful as he is so thin I didn't want to overfeed him & make him sick. Then he went to the toy box and tried to get his ball! YEAH!! I still don't have results from tests, but he is really improving. He can't walk very far before wearing out, but almost broke into a trot today. I am so thankful to you all for your support. If I ever find out what it was I will let you know, just in case someone's baby gets sick the same as he was. |

Is it possible that his condition may have been caused by one of the pet food recalls? I would check into it!! Glad to hear he is doing better! Praying for his recovery. |
The Doctor called me and said she thinks he has Leptospirosis. I read up on this and it sounds terrible. Do any of you know about this? I just can't believe it. He is still active today and eating good. She said she would like to take te credit for it with the ampicillin, but doesn't think that it is over. I am so depressed. She perscribed Enalapril for him. I have to give him 1/4 tablet daily. Will keep you informed as tests come in. |
Okay, the results may not be conclusive, but Dudley wants to eat and play. Those are excellent signs, right? Come on, Momma...be strong. See him well, running along with a brilliant smile. A little more food and water each day until he is eating like a little piggy. Warmly, Deborah |
