I am wondering about the amputation too. unless it has spread to other areas. You are all in my prayers. |
I'm sorry:cry: I hope you get some good news from the oncologist. There are tons of three legged dogs out there that live full lives. :hands: |
Checking your thread to see if there was an update on Newman. Sweet little pup and on a positive note, I was walking Charlie a few weeks ago and a pup was getting around on three legs and at a fast clip. Holding you and Newman in my thoughts. Warmly, Deborah |
Keeping your baby in my thoughts and prayers. |
I am so very sorry. My heart aches for you, Newman and your entire family. Sending hugs |
Prayers for you & Newman & the rest of your family. May God grant you peace and guidance. |
Elaine, we are so sorry about Newman, keeping you in our prayers. It is so difficult when we have a decision like this to make but God will help you to do what you need to do and guide you in your decision. Hugs to you and Newman, Patti and Jack |
Sending Newman tons and tons of prayers for good news <3 |
Thank You. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for their kind posts and pms. Our vet hasn't gotten back to us yet. My guess is he's still waiting to hear back from the oncologist he was consulting with. A couple of people asked about the amputation and I'd like to answer that. Amputation works well with patients that have a localized tumor that has not spread. Stage I and stage II - although even stage II is ify. Newman has a stage III tumor. The research we've done said that only 15 percent of dogs with a stage III tumor have survived past six months after surgery. Newman not only has that against him but he also has against him the fact that NONE of the vets have ever seen a tumor in the foot pad. It's rare. Also, for a mast cell tumor it is extremely aggressive. He was operated on in March and less then four months later it has grown back and this time even more aggressively then the first. This is one of the reasons the vet feels that it may have spread that and the fact that he has labored breathing and couphing. Sometimes the kindest thing to do is to let them go. I think the hardest part for me is going to be taking that drive knowing why I'm taking it and I pray that God gives me the strength to be able to do when that time comes. Thank you all again for all your kind posts and notes. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I hear more from our vet (prob. Monday) or if anything changes with Newman. Elaine |
God bless you and Newman. |

http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html Dear Elaine. I found this link several weeks before helping Sophie to ease her pain. It is most beautiful website and communicated with the designer. It was created for her dear friend who was having great difficulty with the passing of her beloved pet. Please know we are here to send you hugs within these words of sorrow. You are very loving to help Newman especially if his little lungs have fluid, and breathing is labored. Bless you, Deborah |
