Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i'd take her to the vet right away if you are concerned. she could be developing pyometra which at her age could kill her. is there pus or discharge coming out of her vulva? check her temp for a fever.

Senior Yorkie Talker | heat cycle at 14 you said to check her temp. what should it be? I don't see any discharge, but she is licking alot. the vet seemed a little concerned and put her on antibiotics which i am giving her but seemed to think she would be OK... |

| Was she having discharge and now she isn't but is still lethargic and licking? She can still have heats at this age and it can be normal but something doesn't sound right. I agree with Kalina82. Time for the vet. It may be pyometra which can be an emergency.

| Pyrometra doesn't always have discharge, it can just come on like hemorraging. I know she's 14, but why put her through her heat cyles, if she's healthy enough and your vet approves why not have her spayed.

Senior Yorkie Talker | kati has a normal temp 100.4 the vet talked to me about spaying her but said he was concerned because of her age. Her mother did have the condition you are concerned about and we did have to do emergency surgery..I am so afraid of her not making it through surgery..I just lost my 2 other yorkies at age 15 two years ago(7 months apart)I don't think I could handle this happening to Kati. I don't know what to do. I guess the best thing is to call the vet tomorrow and go from there. Please pray for little Kati. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I'll be thinking about you guys tomorrow! remember age is not a disease! As long as she is healthy otherwise she should be just fine under anesthesia. I worked as a vet tech for a board certified surgeon and we did LOTS of surgery on older pets and they came through with flying colors.
