Nope - no word yet. I am going to call them soon to check in. They are so very caring at the hospital, so I am comfortable with her being there and them getting her better - but I want her back here happy and healthy. She just looked so sad this morning - her eyes were saying "Mommy, I don't feel well":( |

It's so nice that you trust the vet so much, confidence in your vet is so very important...wish I could say that. Let us know when you hear anything. |
I hope you get a diagnosis soon and Xena gets to feeling better and can come home. I know you are woried sick about her. Keep us posted. |
We will keep little Xena in our prayers ... hope you find out what's causing this soon. God bless you! |
Well I just called again and they said she is doing better and that she will probably be coming home tonight. She had a bile acid test done but we won't get the results for 3 days. Now we think it was possibly a reaction to flea prevention. I have been doing research on it all day. I just can't wait to get her home. Thanks again for all your kind words. |
Which flea prevention? Hope she'll be better and safe and sound at home. |
Xena's home! YEAH. She's her normal self now. Turns out our two trips to the ER this week were unrelated. This time she had a bad reaction to Sentry flea control. I feel horrible. I thought I did enough research but turns out I didn't dig deep enough and I could have seriously injured my baby. The chemical Permethrin, which can be in different brands of flea prevention, is extremely dangerous to some pets. I have read horror stories of Labs and Dalmatians who have died from this chemical as have many cats and small dogs. Many people on here probably know all about it, but I missed it and wanted to warn others. I was looking at brand names and not the actual ingredients. I have contacted the manufacturer and reported my case. They have a special number just for medical emergencies related to their products. Makes me wonder. I will be going the natural route from now on. Thanks for all your support. |
I'm VERY wary of flea prevention meds. I remember when I had my westie and was opening the tube of flea med that you put between their shoulders - it splashed up onto my microwave oven door and totally corroded it!!! Scare the HELL out of me. Just imagine what it does to our furbabies. Can't be good!!! Sadie goes au naturel -no flea baths - no flea meds. She really doesn't go anywhere to get fleas anyway - thank God!!! |
