i need help 911 Hello. This Is My First Post. Well,my Name Is Erika And I Have A Yorkie Name Bobby He's About 6 Months. He Was Very Healthy And Happy But Since Last Wednesday He's Been Vomiting. He Has No Energy At All Basically Sleeping All Day The Only Time He Gets Up Is When He Vomits. I Took Him To The Vet They Did Blood Test, Urine Test, Also A Parvo Test Which Came Negative. All The Test That Were Done Seem To Be Normal. They Also Did A Ultrasound Today And There Was Nothign Abnormal It's Been Three Days Since He Started To Vomit And I Don't See Any Improvement He's Not Eating Or Drinking Water. He's On The Iv With Medication Basically All Day Long. There Has Been About Four Vets That Have Seen Him And No One Can Come Up With What Is Causing Him To Vomit. Today I Was Told That The Next Step Might Be To Refer Him To Ucdavis. I Wanted To Ask Anyone That If They Have Heard Of Anything Similar Please Let Me Know I'm Very Desperate I Do Not Want To Put Bobby To Sleep But At This Point Everything Is Pointing That Direction. Thank You So Much.! |
hey i dont know much about this but i wanted to bump it so you could get some help! How old is he and how much does he weigh? |
He's Only Six Moths Old He Weights About Four Pounds. He's Been With Me About Three Months. :( |
I am so sorry to hear about lil Bobby, I can't be any help at all, as I know nothing about this, but my prayers are with him... :hands: :hands: |
You cannot just give up on him and consider putting to sleep ! He's a baby! He may have a virus and it just has to take its course. Maybe he ate something and it's getting out of his system. Is he home with you? |
oh! The poor baby. That must be hard for you watching all that and not being able to help at all. I have not had any experience with this myself but if it were me, I would go into the search and type in "vomit" and see what comes up. Actually, I did do that and a bunch of sites come up! Maybe someone has posted something similar to what you are going thru and it will help. I hope so anyways. Keep us posted and hope he's feeling better soon. :( Theresa |
What kind of food are you feeding him ? ....it doesn't sound good - no puppy that young should be lethargic and I hope you find out what's going on with him poor baby....but don't give up......did they run bloodwork on him ? |
Poor baby and poor you:( Are you still feeding him his regular food? His tummy probably needs a break and you could try feeding him this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58036 It saved my baby's life and it's nice and mild and gentle, and easy on the digestive tract. Whatever you do, don't be trying to feed him different things to entice him to eat, as that can make the problem worse. I'm glad that the ultrasound didn't show a blockage, I lost my Starr to that:( Please hang in there and just try to keep him warm and try the baby food;) |
I have a 2.5 pounder that has vomited all of her life for no reason. (She is 6 yrs now) Many vets and tests and no medical reason for it. She even stops eating and I have to feed her baby food. The vets say that she has a nervous stomach. The main thing to the vomiting is to not let them get dehydrated. I keep Pedialyte here all of the time. I hope this helps. I’ll keep your baby in my prayer.:) |
he is 6 months old.... |
sending prayers for your baby, hope he is well soon and they find out what is going on with him:( |
So if he's on IV I take it he's in a hospital? Don't worry too much, I know it's hard to watch them when their sick...But don't give up...They shouldn't let him go home until he's able to eat and keep it down. And yes, if they don't find out what's wrong, take him elsewhere...It could be any of many things, but my first thought was an obstruction...they've ruled that out, right? I will be thinking of you and your little boy, my prayers go out to you...be strong for your baby!!! |
I need help 911 Have been there, and this always worked for me. Cook rice with a little chicken broth. Good luck |
911 Me again, am so worried about your baby. Did they do an XRay on the stomach. Tricksie eats everything, I have found dental floss, rubber, etc in her bowls. Please let me know. |

Please don't give up on him yet. Keep us posted. |
poor baby, don't give up on him. how long has the vomiting been going on? try feeding him boiled chicken and rice with a lil bit of water over it so that he gets water too. my pup was fin-a-key when it came to eating and would only eat if i fed him with a spoon. keeping you and yours in my prayers  |
Any news...did she not say he's on IV? This has me so worried. Please update!!! |
This sounds sort of like what happened to my Max awhile back. He was really lethargic and started vomiting. Wouldn't eat anything at all, or when he did, it all came up. It turned out to be pancreatitis and they put him in the hospital with an IV for the weekend and he's never had much of a problem since (that was about a year ago). He's on a special diet now, mainly just Hill's W/D (for weight control), and as long as he doesnt' eat too much at once, he's fine. We never did ascertain whether it was something he got into outside that made him sick, or if he was just eating too much and it stressed his pancreas out. Hopefully this will be the case with your baby too....please let us know how he's doing! |
I hope they find out what's wrong with him.. Sounds like they are keeping him hydrated. Hopefully it's just a bug or virus and he'll snap out of it. |
i was thinking about that new dog flu thats out could that be it? i dont know the systems, i think it was said that it looks like pravo but they come up negative |

Did any of the Vets. test for Liver shunt, kidney or liver failure, heart worms or Cushing's. ? These will cause the dog to vomit all the time and become lethargic. Also persistent vomiting also occurs with life-threatening disease such as acute pancreatitis, gastric outflow obstruction, intestinal obstruction and peritonitis. Persistent retching without bringing up any vomitus is typical of bloat. I sure hope the reason is found really quick. Poor little guy. |
Oh my god! I hope your baby gets better and please keep us posted on how he's doing.:hands: :hands: :hands: prayers sent out to you and your baby. |
Do you have any plants in the house or outside that the puppy could ahve eaten. There are many that are poisionous to dogs. It has been posted on here before if you do a search I am sure you can find it. Did you just plant tomatoes in the garden? Tomato plants are poisionous. |
he's not at my house. he's been on the hospital since wed. night. |
bobby didnt eat anything strange or poison i know for sure i was always vey careful with him never allowed him around the kitchen. also he was in my living room at all times or at my room and i always checked for something that can hurt him and everything was clean. |
Update!sorry I Haven't Have Time To Reply Sooner But I Have Been So Busy With Bobby. He's Still At The Animal Hospital With Iv.he's Doing A Lil Better He Has Not Vimit That Much Which Is Good News But He Does Not Want To Eat. They Are Feeding Him Nutrical Every 3-4hrs That Should Help Him A Little Bit. He's Condition Is Stable As Of This Time. |
I thought he was in a hospital, because you mentioned that he was on IV. It's best that they keep him there...so they can keep a good watch on him. I would think they'll keep him until he's able to eat and not vomit. So they've given you no indication or idea of what's wrong with Bobby? Hopefully he'll eat for them and be able to get his strength back so he can come home...sorry he's so ill...poor little guy. Will say a prayer that he will improve, they'll discover what caused this and be able to treat it. Take care of yourself too thru this period of stress, you'll need to be able to be there for him. |
yes! bobby is at the hospital he's on iv since wed. since the hosptial is close to my house i go over and check on him.he has been seen by five vets and no one can come up with a diagnosis. they say of things that he could have but just posibilities nothing sure. tomorrow bobby going to see a specialist. hopefully he can give me more answers. |
