Mickeys vet visit today May 21st 4 Attachment(s) Well we took Mickey to the vets. He had his stitches took out, it looks pretty good all but at the top theres like a little bump, like where they had over lapped his skin, but it dont look like its gonna scar to bad. As soon as he heard the vets voice he started shaking really bad and hid his head in my arm pit. They took the stitches out and he was fine. I told them I didnt get a stool sample, I did but the one I got was old. he said no problem Mickeys sending one now. lol He was so scared he pooped on their tableI said see he wanted to leave you a sample now so he didnt have to come back. lol. so he had it tested and all looked ok. They gave me a picture of the lab results for his crystals/ stones and a picture of them. he has 80% Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate and 20% calcium oxalate monohdrate. he is now on U/D presciption food. dry and can. we was able to take the case of the s/d back and a few cans of the a/d and got our money back for them. We hope that him and Minnie will eat the dry precription, because its a good food for them and then Mickey will get the can u/d in the mornings and Minnie will get anouther good quality can food in her am feeding.and then the dry left out for them to eat on all day. Thats the plan. lol here is a few pictures of Mickey and one of the scar and one of the crystals/ stones. all but his was very small like sand. Oh and I had called them last week asking them to have me a copy of Mickeys blood panel test and kidney test function and they said that they would, then I get in there and remind them and they say they cant find it. I said well I want a copy of it. so she made a note of it. I wonder if they even did those test that we paid for. I do have it where its listed as being done on the work sheet with the total we had to pay. Oh and when we got back home Minnie was hiding, she must of thought we took Mickey bye bye and not her. I called for her a few times befoe she came out of hiding and then I asked her if she wanted to go out side and she kissed and kissed me, so all is better now. |

The vet must of noticed his peepee hanging so low because he started feeling it and checking it out before I even mentioned it, I said whats wrong with it any ways. he said it should look normal soon. It just takes time. We didnt take Minnie, The air in the durango is not working and it was so hot, but we had planned not to take her this morning, she seems to be doing great now. we figured we would just wait until we get Mickeys bills paid off or if she acts different then well take her right in. but right now they both seem to be doing great. I want to Thank everyone again for the prayers, good thoughts and donations. It has helped us more then you know. Thank you all. |

yay for good pee!!!!! if he doesn't take to the U/D you can ask your vet about royal canin SO. I believe its for hte same stones and crystals. Sometimes dogs find it more palletable |
glad mickey is getting better:) |
awww im so glad mickey is doing so much better. i prayed so much for that little guy.;) im so happy for you.:D |
Glad to hear Mickey's doing well and his scar is healing up nicely!! Poor little guy is scared of the vet now, but at least he gave them a stool sample ;) Here are a couple of website that have info for you. The first one has some info on stones, and the second one is a chart that shows low, medium, and high oxalate foods. You should stick to the low oxalate category. Half a juiced zucchini will be good for him because it's low oxalate and it's a natural diuretic. It's good for the urinary tract. Thanks for the update, and yes, the Royal Canin SO is supposed to be for oxalate stones as well if they don't like the u/d. Ooops, silly me... I forgot to post the two websites. Here they are: http://b-naturals.com/Dec2002.php http://www.branwen.com/rowan/oxalate.htm |
I'm so glad he is feeling better...he is the cutest little thing!! |

Thanks everyone, Its so good to see my little Mickey back to normal. |
I'm a little late on this but I'm so happy little Mickey is doing well. ;) |
I wanna just kiss that little guy!! He's been through so much! I'm so happy he is finally back to normal, or very close to it!!! What a stressful time for you....glad your life is getting back to normal. Thanks for the update and we're sending big hugs to you!! Trina and the girls |
Poor baby - I don't blame him for poopin on the table ....he went thru so much and he looks really really good !! That scar is pretty bad looking but hey - as long as it heals and he's ok that's what counts. I do think the vet could have done a little better but he's fine now ...All the best and I hope his problems are all in his past now and same with Minnie. |
god bless you both it is so hard with these little ones sometimes hope all is well and for a fast recovery |
I am so glad Mickey is feeling better and is on the mend !:D |
He looks GREAT! (Especially love that third shot.) His sutured area looks good, too. SO much better than those first pictures. Those scared me! I'm hoping that for both you and Mickey this is the first step of many leading out of the dark days.:) Thoughts and prayers continue. |
He looks FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!! All shiny-coated and handsome and standing proud, little brave guy that he is. I am so so so thrilled to see him looking so good. What a treat to see him looking this way!   |
:cheer:  Hallelujah...Could it be that all our prayers were answered? Thank goodness!!! I think he looks great, has he gained back any of the weight he lost thru all this? I think it's so funny that he pooped on the vet's table...That'll show 'em who's boss!!! Way to go Mickey!!! I'm gonna have to do my homework to see exactly what that type of bladder crystals are...we still don't know if it could have been from his food or not...do we? Or what caused all this to happen to him? Still no news on the blood work...keep after them til you get a copy. I really just wanted to let you know I'm tickled that he's doing better...I've been so worried about him...been doing an awful lot of praying lately, I'm so glad somebody upstairs was listening...Give both Mickey & Minnie a big hug...and the same to you!!! You sure deserve a break...and so do they!!! |

Thanks everyone. I asked the vet what causes these type of crystals, he said infections. I dont know, I never knowed him to have any infections. he goes to the vet reg. Yes Id say it was from all the prayers. Mickeys still kind of skinny but im sure he will put the weight back on. Hes starting to eat the dry prescription food pretty good now, But he wont touch the can. and yes I will keep after them for copys on those test results. |
Lookin' good, Mickey!! I am so thankful that he's on the mend and will soon be his old handsome, spunky self! Thank you so much for the updates. |
I think we might have to take little Mickey in to get rechecked. Last night he was sitting there cleaning him self and I noticed his rocket is not red but white. That cant be right. |
Oh No! That doesn't sound good. I would definitely get him back to the vet. Bumping this up so that someone might be able to help. Has he been urinating okay? |
Found this at http://www.justanswer.com/JA/ASP_ASK...breed-dogs.htm Q:The color of my dog's penis has turned a white color A:This could be a circulation issue in that area or over the whole body. Check the mucus membranes in his mouth and under his eyelids to see if they too look pale where they are usually pink. If its just the penis it may be a problem with the prostate or another issue cutting off a blood supply to the area. You should see your vet about this Maybe a complication from the surgery? |
are his gums white too???????? |
It looks a little pink today, but still not red like it was before his surgery. His gums and eyes look good, I guess well talk to the vet and see if he will check him out tomorrow. hes peeing good.I sure hope its ok. |

Well...at least he's eating the dry food a little, that's good news...what if anything can he have for a snack with his special diet, trying to think what he could eat that won't hurt him, don't want him getting sick again. Is he getting any more color in his penis? I'm concerned beings the vet checked that part out when he saw him, and said "it'll get better"...oh man...it sounds circulatory to me...like maybe not enough blood supply. But maybe his lack of nutrition can do that, I know their gums will turn whitish if their blood sugar is low...or at least that's what I've been told. In any case, I'm not gonna stop praying yet...I'm not totally convinced that he's 100% out of the woods yet...more hugs...more prayers...don't give up!!! |
