I hardly ever read the 'sick and injured' yorkie forum because it sounds too sad. Jack, you are a strong boy!! You will be fine and ready to run outside (hopefully, the snow is over!!) in the springtime weather!! Betty sends kisses and hugs! XOXO |
Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery! |
Thanks, everybody! His appointment for evaluation is 10:30 tomorrow. |
Toto and I will be thinking about Jack today .... hope this will be a simple thing and he will be back to his sweet 'ol self before you know it!! ;) |
Will keep you and Jack in my thoughts and prayers today .... I hope all goes well at the appointment. |
Don't feel guilty! You are a wonderful yorkie Daddy. Jack has had time to heal from the leg surgery and is much stronger now. He's going to reap the rewards of all the exercise and care he's gotten in the interim. I'll be praying for you both and for Eddie, too. I'm sure he knows something is up! GET WELL SOON JACK - LOTS OF LOVE AND PRAYERS GOING UP FOR YOU, BABY! |
Just checking in again to say he is in my thoughts and prayers today........... |

Thanks for your thoughts, you guys. I spoke with the vet for about an hour today, and I've decided to wait and see if the problem recurs and to what extent. He thinks it will get progressively worse, but he's not sure. Since the risks of surgery (temporary or permanent incontinence, nerve damage, etc.) outweigh the short periods of discomfort that he's experiencing now, I'm not inclined to take the chance that I'll make the problem worse. It's not all bad news. I was afraid that the episode he had the other day was life-threatening, and the vet doesn't think so. He says he's just trying to force a bowel movement that isn't there. If I can get him to relax or distract him, the problem should go away quickly. Unfortunately, as the vet was examining him today, he noticed ANOTHER hernia, called an inguinal. He thinks the problem with his perineal hernia likely aggravated the other one. But the inguinal is not as serious, says the vet, so we're not going to treat that unless we do the other one. Meanwhile, Jack is seems healthy and happy and you wouldn't know he had any problems at all. Maybe now that I know what's going on, I'll be able to manage the discomfort. Thanks for your thoughts. Maybe they healed him! |
Glad to hear Jack is doing good now! You know Jack and Eddie are so special to all of us. Continued prayers for him staying healthy and happy. |
Glad to hear the news about Jack,we are keeping him in our thoughts!! |
How did I miss this ?? Oh wow dad...don't you love how symptoms vanish when you get them in front of a doctor ? I'm sorry he's having issues with hernias but with you as his dad he can't go wrong. I'm sorry he needs surgery in the future - but it sounds like it's something they feel comfortable with waiting on for the time being ?? That's a good sign.... You'll know if he needs it cause you're THAT kind of dad... The Girls send Get well wishes and hope he can hold his own and not have to be operated on, but if he does - we're ALL here for you and Jack. Oh - smoochies to Eddie too...don't want to forget that little sweetie. |
