Help Please!!!!

Hi everyone........I think Bella ate some cigarette and cigar ashes! My daughters boyfriend left the ashtray in the screen house on a low table and I think Bella may have gotten into it!! She threw up 2 to 3 times and the first one had a little "black" in it! I then noticed the ashtray outside Does anyone know how toxic this is? She is being very mopey and mooooshaaaaad, and Im very worried. The vet is not open right now but if she continues to feel poorly I am definately bringing her first thing in the morning unless someone thinks that this is an emergency! Thanks in advance for your replies.

Did you also know that the average cat or dog could die after eating one to five cigarettes? Swallowing a cigarette is so dangerous that it could take no more than a few minutes to kill your pet! Signs of nicotine poisoning are: rapid breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, coma, and cardiac arrest. If you suspect that your pet has eaten a cigarette, call your veterinarian immediately--this could be a matter of life and death.

Oh my God! Im in tears right now! Thanks for the info! The only sign that she has is the vomiting and she just did it again A LOT with black in it. I dont think she actually ATE a cigarette but I know she Licked the ashes! Thanks again so much....my poor little Bella is ALWAYS getting into something, and I am so careful, its the other people around here that DONT listen to me when I tell them to either keep the chairs pushed in or shut the door or dont leave ANYTHING low where Bella can get it! Im so upset right now.....going to try to find an emergency vet but I dont think there are any around....I'll keep you posted...please pray for Bella and wish us luck....

Good luck. Praying for you both.

Try to get her to throw up. Another site that after four hours, the worst should have passed. DON'T give antacids as that will encourage her system to absorb the nicotine.

DEFINITELY keep us updated. i'm concerned!

The thing is that she has been throwing up and Im inclined to think that she has thrown up all she can..........I will def keep you updated....thank you.

I would call posion control they should be able to help you. Or try calling the nearest ER vet they may help you over the phone.

E R vet told me that seeing as she threw up so much already to just watch her.....I gave her some nutrical....and she drank lots of water and is acting very playful finally! Honest to GOD this little baby is gonna be the death of me.....I think I have to go get my hair colored again tomorow because of her! To all of you that have read my past posts this little one puts me through my paces thats for sure! I just Love her so much and she is sooooooooooo mischievious and differant from my mellow little Louie who wont jump up on ANYTHING and only eats what I give him LOL....Im still gonna keep a close eye on her tonight but I think everything is ok...ThankGOD! and my daughters boyfriend is getting a HUGE lecture tomorow......it was actually his SISTER who left the advil on the table that Bella ate last time......wow, that family owes me bigtime!!

Allie ate some cigarettes once and she was fine. I would keep an eye on her though.
