poor Chloe, i hope she feels better soon. Guess I won't be seeing you on this visit to Kentucky. |

I'm sorry your little girl is so sick. That's nasty stuff. Did he give her any antibiotics? Don't let her run around dog parks, dog stores or other peoples yard. Mine never do. I'm a bit overprotective with them but it seems to be necessary these days with so many dogs and a lot of them are not properly taken care of. Give her a big hug for me. Bless her little heart. |

I found this very informative site on Giardia. http://www.cdc.gov/Ncidod/dpd/parasi...ardia.htm#what |

New update...NOT giardia! What a crazy day!! OK, so after I had spoken to the vet earlier when he said she had giardia, he said I could come pick up her medicine before 8:00. So I had to have husband fix the kids dinner while I ran down there to go get her medicine. So when I got there to pick it up, they ask "dog's name?" I say Chloe. The girl was like "Duchon?" or something like that. I just thought she was talking about the name of the medicine, so I nodded. So she brings out this bottle that was pretty big, and she shows me the amount I'm supposed to give Chloe--I swear it was like 2 tsp or something. I asked why it is so much? The other medicine I gave her was in this teeny bottle and was a teeny amount. She said it goes by weight--the bigger the dog, the bigger the amount. I was thinking (5lbs is big?!!!). So I look at the bottle, all ready to pay and leave, and I see (shepherd, German) on the bottle. It was for the wrong dog!!! I'm like, um, I think you gave me the wrong medicine. So she asks, "Chloe, right?" I said yes. She said what's the last name. Turns out they had her name under CLEO (duh!). It wasn't even her medicine, and even more, it WASN'T EVEN HER LAB REPORT!! They finally dug up her report, and it said she tested negative for all intestinal parasites!! I'm relieved about that, but now I'm wondering what it is. My husband thinks its beef because she had steak on the night before the first day she got it, then she has been normal since until today, and last night I had given her some hamburger (cooked). Then this morning she had two bouts of the runs. So anyway, they said just to finish up the medicine she had before, and if she still has it after a week, they can x-ray her for a blockage, but he said that it is very unlikely, since she's not vomiting. He said its probably just upset from somethng she ate, and we'll probably never know for sure. |

Boy, it pays to read the label doesn't it! My gosh, that could have been a really bad thing. My furbaby is allergic to beef, and I believe it is one that commonly causes allergies, so your husband may be right. |

It is scary. Someone here posted that they got a wrong dose medicine, and her baby was sick for a long time. Was that Amber's Daisy? I think it was. |

Well, Chloe is seeming back to normal again. This morning, totally normal looking poop! Yay!! :D She's eating really well too. She ate really well all day yesterday, and this morning, she already scarfed down half her day's worth of food. I'm just going to stick with her kibbles and not give her any canned or any people food. She'd had that hamburger and a 1/2 package of cesar the night before the...er...incident. I'm going to still finish off her antibiotics and her doggie pepto (pink stuff the vet said was like pepto bismol). I won't make that mistake again. |

I am sorry to hear that your baby is sick :( I hope she is better soon. |

glad to hear chloe is feeling better!! many dogs are allergic to beef, or they can be allergic to chicken or turkey, which are the most common proteins in regular dog foods. what kind of kibble does she eat? is it chicken or beef based? |
|
Thanks! :) She seems to be doing really well today! She eats Royal Canin, which I believe is Chicken based. She's never had any problems with it. Actually, it tends to make her almost constipated, but it is the only thing she will eat. |
