Newman's Biopsy Came Back - He Has Cancer.
 
Hi Everyone. Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone that posted good thoughts. We received the news today on Newman's biopsy. We are devestated. He has a mass cell tumor in his foot. It's very rare and it's aggressive. We don't have any options really. They are unable to go back in and remove anymore of the tumor due to it being on his foot pad and no where for them to go without amputating his whole leg. We opted not to do this because there is still no guarantee and due to the fact that he has a collapsed trachea and he's ten years old. Our other option was to put him through aggressive radiation treatment, but again there is no guarantee. From what the doctor has said, it would be more then likely that the tumor would still grow back. Newman is feeling great right now. Probably better then he has in a long time, so we've opted to keep him comfortable and let him live his life as he's doing until we see that it's time to let him go. Again, thank you to everyone. I am so sorry Elanie that Newman has cancer...My heart goes out to you...I have a 10 year old and when they get older it just breaks your heart when things are found...I will be praying for Newman and you...I think your doing the right thing for both of you...you give that baby big hugs & kisses from us....:(

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news. I wish they could stop cancer altogether, for everyone and everything!!! Will keep you and Newman in my prayers and hopes when his time comes, it will be pain free.

Oh man, I'm so sorry to hear this.Any choice you make is difficult but you are doing the best for Newman.

You and Newman are in my prayers also. Something like this is always so very difficult, I really do feel for you. All you can do is provide him with all the love and understanding that you can possibly give...

Oh I'm so sorry for you and Newman and your family.... I can only imagine how hard it is to go through, it's good he's doing ok now and is comfortable... My prayers are with you

A very tough decision, but I would have done the same.

I am so sorry this happened to Newman.. at least he will spend the rest of his time happy and comfortable with his family.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers through this hard time.

Elaine, I am so very sorry for you and for Newman. I know you are devestated..... At times you will think the pain in unbearable..... but.... don't give up on the little dude. Yorkies have such a zest for life and loving and giving. Sending hugs, and prayers and lots of love to both of you :ghug:

I am sorry to hear about your situation. First it is hard to wait on the diagnosis and then even more devastating is the diagnosis. We have a sick little boy and just give him as much love and kisses as we can. Take good care.

Dear Elaine. I am so sorry to hear the doctor's report for Newman. My sweet Sophie was 13 in January, and helped her cross the Rainbow Bridge on January 23. It was one of the most difficult decisions and agonized for weeks because I didn't want to lose her in my life. She was so fragile and became progressing weaker. However, the answer came so clearly to me and as I looked into her little eyes, they said "please help me, Momma". That morning, I called the vet, made the appointment for the afternoon. It was peaceful, extremely quiet and dear Sophie was not upset. Her ashes are in a little urn that sits on my bedside table.

You will make the right decision for Newman, and I would keep him with you and comfortable until he let's you know that he is tired.

Elaine my heart breaks for both of you. This is the time we
all dread but know eventually we all must face.
I believe your doing the right thing by Newman.
You'll know when the time comes but in the meantime
enjoy the time you have with him.
Prayer's coming that he remains comfortable for many, many
months to come.

I\'m so very sorry Elaine:cry: FWIW, I think that you\'re doing the right thing by him by not putting him through treatments or surgery that would make him feel icky.

Really sad news. ...My heart goes out to you...I am so sorry. I am sure he is very gratefull for everything you have done for him untill now. All you can do now is give him lots of love and keep your spirits up, altho I know it must be devastating. You are both in my prayers
