Good news --- |
O Happy Day !!!!!!! Sophie had a FANTASTIC night last night. We were so proud she was even eating at will. I woke up at 2:00 to check on her and she seemed like a puppy sleeping NOT a noodle lying limp. I was so excited. She woke up this morning fine and acting as a normal puppy should. Hopefully we have kicked our "hypo" out the door for good, but scared as I am .... I will surely keep an eye on her. !!!!!!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you to all who kept Sophie in your hearts and minds :heart to |
That is great!! I feel the ksy is to make sure they eat every few hours. My vet said feed her whatever she will eat. |
baby sophie love happy endings! keep us posted on little Sophie! You are a good mommy!! She is one lucky girl!! XOXOX ....Linda |
Keep up the progress and good work!!!!!! Glad she is doing better. |
Great news, kept feeding her. I had one hypoglycemic episode with my Mi-Ki at past a year and it is frightening. He was out cold. I feed all 3 of my dogs, 3 small meals a day since they are 3 lbs., except my Chin is 6 lbs. but is jealous so he also eats 3x's a day. I give the Mi-Ki nutrical after he plays hard, try to moniter that and before bed. Keep us updated. Jessica |
GO SOPHIE GO! That makes me so very happy to hear about Sophie :D Keep us posted! |
Yaaay for little Sophie! Thank goodness she's doing better. |
Thank goodness Sophie is doing better. You poor thing. Did you talk to the breeder? If yes, out of curiosity how did the breeder respond? |
Here is a great article on hypoglycemia, causes and prevention: http://puppystars.com/main.php?page=hypo |
Another update.... Ok... I just got back from taking Sophie to the vet. After a day of Majo Major laziness (all she would do is sleep), not eating or drinking a THING (just nutri-cal and 3-4 fingers of her a/d) and developing diaherea (sp?) I decided it was time. I took her in and they are keeping her overnight running fluids and a med incase she has cocsidiosis (sp?) and they are running a bile acid test to check for the liver shunt. It broke my heart to hand her over and I was just crying (I even made the vet tech cry). But I know it is for the best and the only way I will ever get her going. Wether it is the hypo or shunt it has to be figured out. When I got her her papers said 1.6 (saturday) tonight she weighed in at 1.3, 3 ozs in 3.5 days. NOT GOOD. :littleang |
Oh honey I am so sorry. **big hugs to you** But she's in good hands... they're going to take care of her. And maybe they can help you figure things out so you can take care of her, too. If there's anything I can do, please let me know.... P.S. Did you call Carolyn? |

I did call Carolyn, I will PM you. |
Oh, so sorry for you right now. Glad she is at the vet and at least you will have an answer and can go forward with treatment. Thinking of you and Sophie. |
I hate to jump that gun or jinks it BUT.... I got to pick Sophie up from the hospital last night. When i got there I got a puppy a had not seen AT ALL, wiggly worm, moving all around, big bright eyes just a lookin around. I was so excited. I told her she hasnt been that way at all since i got her. Anyways, they treated (still are) her Cocidiosis, ran the bile acid test to check for liver shunt and monitored her. They were unable to get the iv set since her veins are so small but they did get her to eat & drink so that was ok with me. So.... I am obviously no vet but I am going to guess she has/had the cocidiosis since the only thing they gave her was the med for it and she is already a different pup. I am impatiently awaiting the results of the bile acid test though and will let you know when I hear. |
