| HELP!!! Max had his rabies shot yesterday... and he is not putting pressure on his back right leg. He's having trouble walking--only hobbles along on 3 legs. He's just not himself today--he usually is active and follows me around everywhere and he seems to be so uncomfortable when he moves. Is this normal??? I can't remember if this happened last time he got his rabies shot since it was 3 years ago. My vet is not available today and when I called the emergency number, I was told that sometimes they can be sore from the shot and to give him benadryl. I'm so worried about the little guy. I hate seeing him in pain when he moves

| So sorry your baby is feeling badly...only thing I have ever noticed from the yearly bout of shots except rabies which is once every few years, is that my boy sometimes seem sluggish for the remainder of the day, hope you baby is feeling better soon!

| The Vet gave the short on his backside away from where the legs meet the body.

| The shot may have poked close to the nerve that goes from the spine to the leg which would cause a lot of discomfort when walking, just like a human having sciatica pain when walking, even tho the effected nerve is the one that comes from the spine. |

| Vaccine Just wanted to check on your dog. My Yorkie had the 3 year rabies vaccine and he started with not being able to walk and within an hour he could not stand on his legs. Emergency vet visit just in time! He got steroids and antihistamine with great improvement. But he almost died. Interesting that your dog had a similar symptom. My dog had his shot in the shoulder. Hope your dog is OK! All of this occurred within a 4 hour period. Susan |

| I know all about that kind of pain, unfortunately . I think he might be feeling a bit better. He rested all day today--just snuggled up in his bed and looked out the window. He's moving around a bit better than this morning, but he's certainly not back to his old active self yet. Maybe tomorrow...

| Benedryl The vet gave Spunky benedryl and steroids for a vaccine allergic reaction. Perhaps that is what happened to your Yorkkie and the benedryl was give early enough. Glad your baby is OK. |

| I am happy to report that Max is back to his old self today. This morning he was bopping around and following me when I was getting ready for work. Then he started stealing my socks so I knew that he was ok .
