Oh no, Connie, what can it be? Something similar happened to Monday when we were living In a hotel in NJ while having our place renovated ... I took her to a totally strange vet and he said it was gastroenteritis ... gave her Carafate and 1/4 Pepcid and changed her diet. That was in February 2005. Since then she has been switched to dry food and there have been no recurrences.
Last week she threw up and had diarrhea, but she had no fever or anything ... vet gave her CENTRINE ... she has been fine. Maybe it was stress of the new baby ...

Oh I just saw your after vet posting .... I see she is going to be fine ... thatz how Monday was treated ... Maddie will be fine in less than a week ....

Wow...Yt'ers never fail to amaze me with their concerns and well wishes! Thank you all so much! Maddie isn't feeling good yet, but she's not worse that I can tell. I turned on the electric blanket about 7 and Maddie and I took a 3 hour nap. Ever since I got up, she's been sleeping, but sleeping helps to heal, so that's good. I've noticed she swallows a lot and maybe her throat is sore from all the vomiting. I opened a can of I/D food and gave her some and she ate it...so she is getting her appetite back. She's had no more vomiting episodes, so that is also good! I got so scared today and on the way to the vet I thought about how my mom got sick and was gone in about 2 1/2 weeks and got so overcome with fear that I would also lose Maddie. I still feel very worried, and just hope and pray she didn't get into some kind of poison that is causing all of this. I do know she's been depressed, which lowers the immune system so hopefully is is nothing more than an illness that she will recover from.

She's probably just tired and from all the vomiting. She has her appetite so that's good.

Oh Connie I am so sorry Maddie is feeling ill. I know how scared you must be. You both are in my thoughts and prayers!! I am glad to hear she ate and is not vomiting!!!

Connie, when you said that she swallows alot that made think that that is a sign of bleeding down your throat, when a child gets their tonsils out swallowing alot is something that we watch for, that is a sign of bleeding too much. Do you think that it is possible that she might have swallowed something sharp or bit on something sharp that cut her mouth or back of her throat? If it is bleeding then she would swallow it and blood in the stomach always makes you vomit. Did the vet do an x-ray or look in her mouth. I hope it is nothing serious and she gets well soon.

So sorry to hear about Maddie. The Carafate is good to help coat the stomach, and please stay with th i/d till there are no more symptoms. It's really bland but is easy in the digestive tract and will be soothing. Wish I could offer better advice, Giz has had a long ride with these kinds of problems and you are doing everything right. Prayers and best wishes.

I agree with Genie, even with a bloody nose, you swallow alot. Twice, I've had a broken blood vessel in the back of my nose that did that. I hope the vet checked everything. I'm glad she's feeling better and hope she's back to normal in no time.

I'm sorry Maddie is not feeling well. I sure hope she gets better soon. Sorry you have to go through all this pain, your in my thoughts and prayers Connie.

Thanks for all your prayers! Maddie has had her Sucrlfate pill and in a while, she has her pepcid and then in an hour she can eat. She got through last night with no problems and slept like a baby. She's sleeping again now. She says thanks to everyone who has showed concern and prayed for her! She loves her YT friends!

Your prayers are doing wonders! Thank you all so much! This evening Maddie wanted to play...she loves tug of war with her marmot. She got tuckered out pretty quickly, but she played. She is sleeping a lot. I suppose she has to build up her strength and sleeping will help! I'm still worried, but not as worried as I was yesterday...I don't think she was poisoned because if that was the case, I think she'd be getting worse instead of better. Poor little thing needs a bath so bad. I've washed her face because she was kind of stinky from all the vomiting, but I figure I best not bathe her yet...though I am so tempted. She looks so scruffy!

I have been so absent minded since Mom got sick and died that I didn't trust remembering Maddie's meds, so I typed up a list for each day and the time she needs them and then I'll check them off as I give them. There are 6 times throughout the day and night she needs the meds and it's just easier to have it down on paper.

For those of you wondering if I'm getting sleep, I swear that all I've done since my dear Mom died is sleep and eat. I have been taking three hour naps during the day or evening and sleeping at night too. Funny thing is, I still feel tired. Maddie curls up and sleeps with me...so we're both getting lots of rest...probably too much! Hugs to you all!!! Maddie sends kisses and thank you's!

I am so sorry that little Maddie is going through this. Last July when we lost my Mom, Toto went through something similar. She adored my Mom and grieved just like we did ... it will just take time for her too. My son's Border Collie, who lived with my Mom, may not be able to recover. She is, seemingly, griieving herself to death. She is about 9 yrs. old and she greeted my Mom when she woke every morning for over three years. Now she lays outside her door and is just sad all the time. We will be praying for little Maddie and hopefully she will be her old self before long.

Maddie is doing great! I've noticed a big improvement and I'm so thankful! She's still sleeping a lot, but that's been the norm since Mom died...but she's even wanting to play and eating well! Thanks everyone for prayers and well wishes!
