I dont think a dog would drink a lot of water, "just to be stubborn". Nor do I see that that would be a behavioral problem. Poor baby, sounds like something is going on.
One thing that I have learned is that neither doctors nor vets are right 100% of the time, and if something seems wrong, than most likely it is. I think if a vet is telling you this is a behavioral problem, I would see another vet.

What an earlier post suggested was testing for diabetes insipidus -- not just diabetes. They are much different. Where diabetes is sugar imbalance, diabetes insipidus is a water imbalance (caused by a lack of anti-diuretic hormone ADH).

It is normal for a little puppy to seem to go every 5-10 minutes but at 7 months it should be calming down to every couple of hours. So, I would probably want another vet's opinion. You said he was on antibiotics -- did they find evidence of infection or just give them to him? If there was infection, then possibly after a few more days of antibiotics you will see improvement.

No improvement, still going frequently. I feel so badly having to be the water police around here. I am going to try a different vet, one here in dexter this time. They gave him antibiotics just incase it was an infection but its been days and days still no improvement. Hopefully i will find out something when i get him in with a new vet. Thanks for all your help!

Has he ever gotten dehydrated. I'm sure he needs more testing but you could also try some pedialite or gatorade to balance the electrolytes then he can absorb the water properly. Instead of it just running straight thru. I would try it to see if it helps.

No never dehydrated that i know of. I will try to give him pedialite. How much should i give him? He weighs 11 lbs.

Hi - did you sort out the problem with your yorkie pup? Did your vet check for both Diabetes Insipidus and Diabetes Mellitus? He had a water sample for the insipidus test and a blood test for mellitus. Also as I've found out with my Zack there are a lot of other conditions which the symptoms include excessive thirst and weeing a lot as I've found out with all the tests mine oldest Yorkie has had done.
