Update on Huck
 

Oh my gosh! I'm just so overwhelmed by you guys. I was literally in tears when I checked the message board tonight. I'm relatively new to YT and I had know idea I'd receive back so many responses. It was wonderful and heart-warming. Thank you all so much for all your kind words and prayers.

I am absolutely astonished by Huck. The vet said he would probably not want to eat or drink for a few days, and definitely would not be able to chew. He lapped up water and the special food they gave me for him this morning. And I could not believe my eyes when I saw him snatch up a Skittles candy one of the kids dropped and started chewing away like nothing happened! He is the toughest little guy I tell you! (But I'm really going to have to watch that little bugger, because in order for his jaw to heal he has to completely avoid chewing motion!)

He looks awful - his face is shaved and his eye is still very bloody, but I know he's going to be fine. He was up and around today and even went outside to use the bathroom. I do not doubt for one second that all of your prayers are helping him along and are contributing to his miraculously quick recovery.

Oh my gosh, that is the BEST news:D!!!! He sounds like a tough little cookie, just like most Yorkies are:thumbup: I know you must be so so so relieved that he's going to be okay, heck, I am and he's not even mine:laugh:

I'm sure that he'll look more like his old self once he's healed up and his hair grows back. He's definitely a miracle baby:love:

What a tough little man you have! We will continue to send good thoughts and well wishes until he is completely recovered :)

YAY!!! I am soooo glad to hear that he is getting to be his old self again (that little sneak - HA)!!!

I always heard that these little guys were as tough as nails.....who would have thought by their size!

so glad to hear he is doing well.. i've been thinking about him all day and just holding my breath that things would be ok! you have one tough cookie there!

He is a miracle furbaby and he is meant to be here. I am so glad he is feeling so much better and as you see him progress, your memories of the incident will fade. Loves, hugs and kisses all around!!

I'm not able to be on here very much lately. I saw your other thread before this one and noticed you said you posted an update, so then I found it and I want to tell you how sorry I am you and Huck had this happen. It's so sad. I'm glad, though, to see he's doing well. Give him extra hugs from all of us!:)

Many of you are still inquiring on this forum and others about how Huck is doing. Right now things are still pretty tough for him. Poor thing doesn't have even an ounce of playfulness in him! He sleeps alot, and it's pretty obvious he's not feeling well at all. Maybe it's just my imagination, but he seems a little skiddish even. :confused: I know the pain must be unbearable. He shivers quite a bit too. I think that's from the pain though, because after I give him his pain medicine the shivering stops. Plus, according to the vet, the pain medicine is some pretty strong stuff, so I think it contributes to his overall groggy disposition. Perhaps in another week or so he'll perk up a bit, but I have a feeling it's going to take some time.

Poor little dude:cry: I'm so sorry that he's in pain, and I hope that the medicine helps. Of course he's groggy from it, but that's good so he won't hurt himself by jumping around too much. He WILL heal, and your bond will be tighter than ever. You saved his life by scooping him up before more damage could be done to his little body, and I'm sure that he knows that.

sounds like you have a good vet and Huck is in good hands ... I was so happy to hear he was doing well ... itz a slow recovery ... hez a miracle Yorkie.

These little Yorkies are amazingly tough. I guess the good Lord gave them some extra courage and toughness for their lack in size! I am sure with your loving care he is going to make it through this. I am glad the pain killers are helping the little guy. Continue to update when you can and we will all continue to pray for him. Get well soon, Huck!

I don't know what I was thinking when I said Thor I meant Huck Sorry I hope he is feeling better .

:yelrotflm LOL! I thought you were being funny! As tough as he's proven himself to be I think maybe I should've named him Thor or Hercules or Rocky or something like that! The people on my street all have bigger dogs (labs, whippets, retrievers, etc.), so they always tease me about my "puny", little Huck, especially when he comes out in all the cutesie little shirts and sweaters I put him. Since none of their dogs have ever been kicked by a horse and lived to tell about it, his ordeal has certainly earned him some "tough dog" points! ;) Hmmm...maybe I should get him a t-shirt that reads, "I was kicked by a horse and lived to tell about it!" :p

LOL YEA That would be a good t-shirt:) I had been so busy watching treads about your Huck and other pups too that I got carried away and typed Thor he is the yorkie the ate roach killer. He is doing fine now..... How is Huck doing today?
