I need some help - not using legs I had someone coming to look at the pups so I put all the dogs in the gated area. They were inthere together like 15 minutes. When I went to get them out Meiah looked funny. And she was limping. Its like its either her left rear leg or both. Walking very wobbly and a couple times fell right over. We didn't hear any yipes or anything to alert us someone had gotten heurt. the only other thing I did to her today was give her a bath. On her body I used flea soap on her head I used puppy shampoo. I put her in her kennel to make her rest and she just threw up yellow liquid. But then she ate a bowl of soft Hills A/D. (a full bowl) I know all the replies are going to be get her to the Vet and I will, but they are closed for the Holiday weekend. Anyone know what could be wrong??? |
Anyone? Before I go to bed? I'm hoping its nothing, like maybe one of them jumped on her by accident. She is VERY loving, shy, and needy and maybe just taking it worse than another dog might??? I'm hoping? The flea bath, could that effect her? I used the same bottle I used on her before and the bath was 4 hours before this started happing. |
Maybe she is having a hypoglachemia episode. Give her some caro syrup or nutri cal if you have it. |
I tried giving Nutrical and she wouldn't take it. I could try a syringe. What are the symptoms??? |
I just gave her 2 cc's of nutri-drops. |
If it is a leg/hip or something like that and she seems in pain tomorrow, can I give her baby asprin? How much for a 4 lb dog? God I'm praying she's just more sensitive and is ok tomorrow!!!!:angel2dl: :cry8: |
My vet always tells me it's okay to give half an asprin to my yorkies after shots and all, so I guess it's okay. |

I'm so glad you got her to eat some nutrical. I don't know anything about baby aspirin. Just let her rest and call an emergency vet sometimes they can give you a solution over the phone. I called many many times. so sorry I can't be of more help but I do hope she feels better. Keep us posted! |

Here's the signs of low calcium - eclampsia - if you feel this is the problem seek out an emergency vet for an injection of calcium, giving it to her by mouth in an acute situation won't work. Signs of eclampsia Eclampsia is a very serious disorder but fortunately the signs are fairly easy to recognize, especially when coupled with late term pregnancy and/or milk production. Initially, the affected dog will be restless and nervous. Within a short time, she will walk with a stiff gait and may even wobble or appear disoriented. Eventually, the dog may be unable to walk and her legs may become stiff or rigid. The dog may have a fever, with body temperature even over 105º F. The respiration rate (number of breaths per minute) will increase. At this point, death can occur if no treatment is given. |

Have you used the flea shampoo on her before? It does sound like a hypoglycemic episode, hopefully the nutri drops will help. I usually just put some nutrical on Cali's mouth and sh has to eat it. These babies can go down so fast, I would stay up awhile and make sure she is better or call the vet. Good luck |
If I had to choose I'm hoping its a hypoglachemia episode, but it seems more to me like shes favoring the legs, although when I felt all over her legs and hips she didn't pull away or act like I touched a soar spot. Could it still be a hypoglachemia episode even though she eats well? Do they vomit with the episodes, cuz she threw up yellow liquid.??????? But then after she did that she ate! While still wobbly in the rear end. |
