| Reverse sneeze sounds When your dog experiences a reverse sneeze episode does it sound as if he/she has some sort of liquid, (phlegm or mucus), in their nasal passages or throat? Bogey has had several attacks when excited since Monday and he sounds this way. He had thrown up a bit of bile Monday morning before the first attack and I was concerned he may have aspirated some of the bile. I spoke with the vet later that morning and he seemed unconcerned since his breathing was fine otherwise. Are these sounds normal? |

| I just found out what a reverse sneeze is today when I took Maggie to the vet for something else. When Maggie has one, it does sound like she's got fluid in her nose. My vet said they're nothing to be worried about. The first time Maggie had one, it scared me to death!! |

| Does he have a runny nose? Loki had one all last week - the vet said allergies or a doggie cold. No coughing or other symptoms, he just kept sneezing and snorting, trying to clear it. We wiped his nose a lot and the vet let us give him children's benadryl. Is he still eating and active? Our vet was not concerned as long as the runny nose was clear and he was otherwise normal. I'd call back and ask about that. Good luck.

| Reverse sneeze sounds It has now been a few weeks since the initial incident and it actually took 5 or more days for the situation to resolve itself. There was no runny nose or anything just several episodes of reverse sneezing each day. As time wore on the sneezing decreased and the fluid-like sounds basically resolved themselves. Since then he has only had one or two episodes of reverse sneezing. When I originally spoke with the vet he felt maybe some of the bile had gotten into the nostrils and the situation should improve in 24 hours. |
