Sad Joey update Hi everyone. I thank all of you for your thoughts through my ordeal. We lost Joey today. He started to experience pain for the first time today when he was turning his head. So we took him to the vet right away, where they found he had a broken neck. We don't know when it happened, as he's been pretty well protected. He tripped on a rock once, and tumbled over when we were taking a walk, but other than that, I'm not sure when he could have gotten injured. My heart is broken. Joey was my first venture into the yorkie world and I have to say I don't regret it. He brought us so much joy and defnitely made me fall in love with the breed. I definitely don't want to get another tiny one though. He was at 1 lb 12 oz today...5 months old today. thanks again. deb |

My heart aches for you so much. I share your pain for we lost our Jewel unexpectedly last week. I want so much to comfort you but no words will ease the pain, I know. What I can tell you is the out pouring of support from YT and reading words from others who knows how deeply we love our babies helped me feel less alone in my sorrow. Talk about Joey, the more you do the more you start to talk about the happy memories instead of the last moment of their sweet lives. I still cry everyday for Jewel, but I can laugh again. You will too. |

I am so very sorry for your loss of Joey. My baby, Trace, died unexpectedly at 13 months old. He was my first yorkie. I did, indeed, get another....not a replacement....but another to make me laugh and love again. You have my deepest sympathy. |

Deb, I just went through all of your posts about Joey. I feel like I knew him! He was very lucky to have you in his short life. He died knowing he was loved! I would encourage you to go to the RIP section on here and post your feelings and thoughts about Joey. I think it was the only thing that got me through losing Bandit. I still go back once in a while and write something when I feel the need to talk about him. Again, you are in my prayers! |
I followed all of your posts about Joey and fell in love with his adorable face....I am so sorry for your loss and send you a big hug and my thoughts and prayers. It is so hard to say goodbye to our babies...I hope that each day is a little easier than the one before. |

I so appreciate all of you... It's a hard hard day for me. I still haven't gotten to tell my almost 16 year old daughter, who spent the night at a friend's. It will devastate her. She took care of Joey as much as I did and treated him with angel hands. She's been massaging his legs in hopes of helping him to walk again. It tears me apart that I have to break her heart. We also just lost a dear horse tragically...not even a month ago. We just walked out to feed in the morning and she was standing in her stall with a severely broken leg...so bad the vet said there was no way she could ever walk again. I'm struggling with feeling guilty that I just didn't do enough to protect Joey, but everyone keeps saying not to do that. It's SO HARD though, to not put the blame on myself. My family and I love our pets so much, they are part of the family... every loss is taken hard. But we can't imagine our lives without them. Thanks for all the thoughts and especially your prayers. God is the only one who will be able to heal my heart and help me to remember all the wonderful memories. deb |
Deb, i am so sorry for you and your family, my heart goes out to you. I have just now read all your threads about Joey, i don't know how i could have missed them. He sure was a gorgeous little boy! He was/is very loved... i know it's hard to lose a loved one. He is in a good place now where he feels no pain. I know it's easy for us to say, time is a healer, but we know your pain, it hurts literally. Having to break the tragic news to your daughter is going to be very hard, but, in time she will understand. Don't place any guilt on yourself, you did all you could have done. OH NO...... I'm so sorry ! OMG I was just admiring his picture the other day when you posted his little coat and I can't believe he's gone....Poor little boy....they were sure he had a broken neck ? how awful ! you have my sincere condolences....That' so so sad.:( :( :( :( |
