can dogs eat tuna fish?? can dogs eat tuna fish???????????????????? |
Stewie has before. |
My girls love fish. They like the tuna straight from the can, and long john silver's with the batter peeled off, and they love broiled fish. They only get it once or twice a month, and just a couple of tbs., but then again - so do I! |
Fish is Good :) |
I let Sully lick a tiny bit of the water I drain out of a tuna can (sometimes) though one time I let him have a lot and he got the cha-cha-cha in the house. Um, yeah so I don't do that anymore. My cat likes it and can handle it ok so she gets most of it. :p |
Roxi just had some tonight and she loved it! looks like I have found the answer to her hunger strikes!!!!! |
Toto loves the white Albacore tuna packed in water! ;) |
My dog hates fish, just like her daddy :) |
I wouldn't give my dogs tuna because if you do some research you will find that a pregnant woman should not consume tuna on a regular basis because of the mercury content which might cause autism in children. Mercury is now being thought to cause autism which, up until recently, was also used in childhood immunizations as a preservative. They think autism has increased because the number of immunizations for children have increased which subjects them to more mercury. If you have an infant receiving immunizations you should request mercury free shots because they are still on the shelf and our government has decided to use them up rather than throwing them out! Probably small amounts would not cause any problems with dogs, but why risk it. |
The amount of mercury in tuna fish is not harmful at all - if it is eaten occasionally. And, like tuna, many foods are not healthy if they are eaten too often. My dogs don't eat a lot of dog food, but I do try to feed them a wide variety of different healthy foods - and not too much of any one thing. Carol Jean |

My thought exactly. And about the Autism comments...My son has Autism and I have never heard that it was related to Mercury. I have heard the "vaccine theory" but I dont know how much I would agree with it. Believe me, i have researched my buns off about Autism and I have came to this coclusion...God made my son the way he is for a reason. No amount of research can change it, and i dont want to. He is one of the most caring kids I have ever seen.. He has taught me and my DH so much about life and love...God must have thought we were migthy special PPL to give us one of his special angles. |
Oh BTW me and my Autistic son both LOVE tuna |
I have one who loves any kind of seafood. He esp. loves boiled shrimp. He must have been a cat in a previous lifetime. :cat0: |

Go to www.google.com and search (autism, mercury, tuna fish) and then you won't think I'm crazy. |
You didn't offend me at all. I am just a little sensitive about that subject. I am sorry if I sounded a little harsh or snippy! I really am sorry! Maybe next time I should just stay away from the more sensitive subjects. i know you didnt mean anything by your post and it did make sense, but i was just in a really sour mood yesterday and it reflected in my post. Sorry again for sounding that way! Oh, and I don't think you are crazy at all! I just hope you don't think i am! |
