Hi everyone I wanted to just reach out to you to see if this episode is what I think it is. Georgie was taking a nap this afternoon and when he woke up his body became stiff and he was shaking, it happen twice back to back for a total of 10 seconds or so. Anyways I took him to the emergency vet immediately after I feed him some boiled chicken and his normal food. At the vet she took his blood and told me that his glucose level was at 94 which is the low end of normal. I just wanted to see if anyone else's babies have had this happen and also to make sure it sounded like a hypoglycemic episode. Fortunately he is fine now running around as if nothing happened, but you can believe I will have my nutrical with me everywhere we go.

I'm not sure if that is what is it, because I've never experienced it. But I hope your baby never has it again, and I'm glad he's feeling better!

Here's some info I found on the subject, maybe it will help:
Most common clinical signs of hypoglycemia are drowsiness, shivering, collapsing, disorientation, seizures, listlessness, depression, muscle weakness and tremors.-http://www.gopetsamerica.com/dog-health/hypoglycemia.aspx.

What to Watch For
Loss of appetite
Extreme lethargy
Incoordination
Trembling
Muscular twitching
Weakness
Seizures
Unusual behavior
Dilated pupils
Apparent blindness

I would watch for seizures...hypoglycemia is not something that comes and goes that fast.
I had a friend who bought a Maltese, he had a seizure when she turned the lights on suddenly...he was always waking from a sleep when it happened..
I would keep feeding him regular and watch for another episode...or ask the vet what they would suggest if it is a possible seizure.

Get some Nuristat or Nutrical and give it to him at least 3 times daily.
If he continues to have these episodes I would have the vet run more tests.

That happened to Cali about 5 weeks ago exactly. She has had hypoglycemic episodes in the past but this was different. She was stiff and wobbly and when she tried to walk it was like she couldn't judge how close the floor was. I gave her nutrical and rushed her to the ER vet. They couldn't determine what it was since I had given her nutrical her glucose level was normal so they tested her for liver shunt. I am now waiting to see if she has MVD as no liver shunt was found. They did put down hypoglycemia as the diagnosis. It's very possible it was hypoglcemia but would watch for other episodes. Good luck

It was similar to that, and I had such a hard time describing it to the vet because it happened so fast and I was freaked out. It happened at 1pm today so I am hoping everything is fine, because he has been fine since. I will make sure that I have nutrical with me everywhere I go. Thank you for the advice everyone.

I agree with Pat. I've never known hypoglycemia coming and going so fast. Watch him very close. Hoping for the best.

I have been watching him non-stop (didn't get much sleep last night), and he is doing fine. He is playing and eating etc. like usual. I was away this past weekend and he stayed with Daddy so I am not sure that he ate like he does when Mommy is around. The emergency vet told me to take him to my regular vet in 2 weeks to have more blood work done just as a precautionary measure. Thanks for the advice everyone
