I can't stop crying.....I dropped her :-( OMG you guys..........today after getting Reese groomed I was getting out of the car and opened the back door to get my daughter out, lost my balance and dropped Reese from chest level onto our paved driveway  .......totally hysterical I called the vet and rushed her in. She defecated and urinated on me and her tongue was hanging out and eyes in the back of her head.......I got to the vet as fast as I could. I was so hysterical I am almost embarrassed to go back to the vet. Anyway, they took her into the back and looked at her. She has hemmorging in her eyes, and they told me to watch and and sent me home with pain drops for her. They did give her a shot of pain meds. but she is just not acting right. I suppose the shock and pain med combo might be causing her to act this way, and she is probably really sore. They said thank god she didn't land on her head, she landed on her left side. The vet didn't even tell me what to look for as danger signs.....I feel so guilty and so so awful ! I don't know what to expect now ???? I feel like such a bad person......I can't believe I dropped my furbaby ! I love her so much and I am so sad this happened. Thanks for listening :cry8: |
Oh no! That is terrible! I am so sorry! Please keep us updated on how she is doing. And, you are NOT a bad person! |
I am so sorry this happened and I am sure it doesn't make you feel any better to hear someone say accidents happen try not to blame yourself. I hope she is feeling better, keep us updated. :( |
Accidents happen sometimes. Don't be too rough on yourself even tho I know you are hurting and feel so bad. You did the right thing by rushing her to the vet. i had Ceeby jump from my arms at chest high and nearly landed on my concrete fireplace hearth. Scared the you know what out of me. His head missed it about one quarter of an inch. |
Aww we get so sad when we accidentally do this stuff, and trust me WE ALLLLLLL have done stuff like this. I took a chunk out of Coco's ear when she was a pup, there was blood everywhere. It was an accident and you can't blame yourself, it's just an accident. If she continues to act funny I would get a second opinion, because I wouldn't trust a vet that didn't give you warning signs, and sends a hemorrheging (sp?) pup home. I don't know I could be wrong. I hope your baby feels better. Kisses to her from me and Coco and hugs to you. |
accident Did they xray to make sure she had no broken ribs ..I know you feel awful I am so sorry. Make sure she drinks..give her nutra-cal, give her some chicken if she is not eating. When I first read this post, I thought about her head..you are so lucky. Next time try putting her in a carrier for car rides. Try not to feel bad...I dropped one of my males once and broke his leg. |
Please don't feel bad. Accidents can happen to anyone and everyone. Just monitor her carefully and nurse her back to health and give her all the love that she deserves. Hopefully, she'll bounce back in no time! :) |
ohhhhhh poor baby! When Simon was little I did the same thing, and yes I went to the vet and I felt horrible! My vet told me he was shocked, sore and the pain meds would cause him to act abnormal for awhile. I stared at him all night making sure he was ok and the next day he was limping a little but playing again! I hope your baby is ok, you are not a bad mama!!! Just keep a close eye on her and let us know how she is doing! |
I am sure she will be ok! Keep a close eye on her and keep us updated! |
I dropped Susan on her head on the hard tile of the dining room when she was about 3 months old -- at about 3 lbs. Scared me to death. Took to her to the vet and got some sort of medicine -- I've forgotten what -- to reduce swelling in case her brain swelled. But she was fine. I hope your baby will be too. I felt terrible, and I know you do, but sometimes you just can't stop something from happening. |
I'm so very sad! She's in my prayers! |
I am terribly sorry to hear the news about Reese . . . and don't feel bad because accidents do happen so it ain't your fault. Please keep us posted on her development . . am sure everything will be fine. |
Bless your heart....I know you feel terrible but that can happen in a blink of an eye and so far it sounds like you were lucky ....You could have fallen ON her or she could have hit headfirst...it could have been so much worse...but any accident is very tramautizing....and I feel so bad for both of you.... :( I truly hope she is going to be ok .....That had to be awful and you did the right thing going straight to the vet...you are NOT a bad mom....you just had an accident and they happen to us ALL..... IF there is a 24 hour hospital nearby you may want that phone number handy....and you can always call someone to see what to look for...or someone here can help you.... Hang in there and lots of well wishes for your baby...Please let us know how she is ? |
Oh, I'm so sorry that happened, but please don't blame yourself. It was an accident, and unfortunately, accidents do happen. I sure hope and pray that your furbaby will be OK. Please keep us posted. |
That is so sad. Don't beat yourself up about this. I will say a little prayer for your baby tonight. |
Quote:
Watch for her to vomit blood or pass it in her stools. Did they not take any x-rays to see if something was injurred like the kidneys? They can also go into seizures to. Watch her temp as if she is bleeding internally this might go up. Hope all is well.... |
Please, please don't blame yourself! Accidents happen, and that is why we are here to support each other. I would probably take her to an ER vet. Your vet underreacted because he knows they are usually ok, but for your own piece of mind a second opinion won't hurt. Please keep us posted, I'll say a prayer for your baby. |
Oh My............ Bless your sweet heart! I'm so so sorry! You have gotten some super advice. SO, Hang in there! Remember, it was an accident...........hugs :) |
How terrible!!! It was purely an accident so please try not to be so hard on yourself. Hugs are coming your way and keep us updated. :( |
So sorry to hear Reese is not feeling well tonight. Hope tomorrow brings a better day for you guys. Keep us informed as to his progress. |
I\'m so sorry. I woud do as other said have a number of the ER vet handy just in case. I will keep her in my prayers. |
Oh my goodness I hope she gets better. Things sometimes happen and we can beat ourselves up all we want about it. But you know what....your baby will forgive you. Keep a close eye on her and make sure you give her nutri cal and try getting her to eat and drink. Please keep us posted. |
I\'m so sorry to hear about this accident! I know it must be so tramatizing for you and your puppy. I hope her health returns fully soon! |
I am so sorry, I hope she feels better. Keep us posted! |
I am so sorry...I know you must be beating yourself up over this. Accidents happen and you would have never intentionally hurt your baby. I will be saying a prayer for you and your little one tonight... |
I\'ll keep you in my prayers, and please keep us posted! |
OMG, I know how you feel. Well, not exactly but I dropped a puppy that I was buying from Pat right before I was paying for her. I mean, on a carpeted concrete floor right on the top of her head. She got up, took a couple steps and started walking all crazy. I threw the money to Pat and said "You can\'t keep her cause I dropped her!" and off we went to my vet before she even came to my house. Of course, by the time we got to the vet she was fine, but to this day I remember that. My vet would have given me a set of head injury instructions and internal injuries care. Please awaken her every 1-2 hours all night and make sure she responds. Give her sips of broth or water and as Pat said, Nutrical or whatever she will eat. I will PM you my phone number that you can use if you need any help during the night. I AM NOT A VET OR EVEN A TEC but I am a VEEEEEEERY old nurse with ER experience... Give her Yorkie smoochies from Rini\'s cuties and of course, Rini to.. |
This is just one of the problems with these tiny little dogs. Mine isn\'t so tiny now, but she he as a tiny little puppy - he jumped out of my arms and feel all the way to the floor and slid into the fridge. Like you - this scared me to death also. Please know - so many of us have experienced similar experiences.... Watch your little pup closely. I really hope it ends up none the worse - like my little pup did. Carol Jean |
Poor thing! Accidents are just that..accidents! Hugs sent your way..I hope your baby gets better soon! |
OMG .. I feel so bad for you! You shouldn\'t beat yourself up though .. it\'s not like any of us would intentionally hurt our babies... I pray she heals up quick!! Lis |
