Madeline Rain hurt her leg ! Maddy was playing with her brother Gizmo and she slipped off of the bed.. she didn't cry or wimper so I didn't think there was something wrong, then I saw her limping.. it is her left leg, it doesn't look or feel broken. I can move it around and massage it and she doesn't wimper... I compared her paws and the left one looks a bit swollen, went to the vet this morning w/ out her and he gave me some anti-flammatory medicine told me to give her one twicea day(5mg ea.)... until Sat. If she was still limping to take her in...... do you think it will get better soon? I am soooooooooo worried!!! My poor baby girl all she wants to do is cuddle, granted she always wants to cuddle but I feel like such a bad mommy :( |

How old is your little one? Our little one fell off the couch when he was 12 weeks old and didnt wimper or anything, but we noticed that he was not walking on it AT ALL! We massaged it, moved it, and he didn't act like it was hurt or anything. We had just recently gotten him, so we were freaking out since he wasn't walking on it. We took him to the vet for an X-ray, and they found a hair-line crack in his bone. They put a splint on it, which he had to wear for 3 weeks, but now he is perfectly fine. The weird thing was that he didnt act like it was hurt, like yours. The vet told us that dogs are pack animals and since the weakest of the pack is usually killed or left behind, dogs tend to hide their pain and weakness. Pretty neat if you ask me. Anyway, if I were you, I would take her to the vet for an x-ray. You definately don't want her to injure it more by trying to walk on it. Who knows, there may not be anything wrong!! But, better to be safe than sorry...like us, not only is she your baby, but you probably paid a pretty penny for her, too! Another thing to consider is her age...I know the younger they are the more brittle their bones, that is why I asked her age. Best of Luck! Hope she feels much better soon! |
It sounds like what Sailor did...she pulled a ligment in her knee about a month ago now. We had no idea how it happened just notice that she was limping really bad and wouldn't put her back left leg down, the vet gave us some meds as well and within two weeks she was back to normal, fully playing and everything!! We just had to keep her calm and off it of for several days and let it heal, she is now doing great...no signs at all!! I am so sorry that little Maddie is hurt, Magic and Sailor are sending her lots of kisses and hopes she gets feeling better soon!!! |
Thanks, good info, she is 4 months old and is 4 lbs..... ummmm, she doesn't walk on it, like I mentioned this happened last night around 9 pm... this morning she started to put it down a bit but still won't put pressure on it..... I hope it is nothing , but I am going to take her to the vet if this doesn't get better.... |
I sure hope Madeline is ok and it's nothing serious. Hopefully she will be running around on all 4's in no time at all. :aimeeyork |
I hope all is well. Poor baby. |
thanks guy,her Daddy calls her a "tough lil' girl"..... poor baby she still loves me even though she is hurt... |
I'd follow the vet's advise and see if she doesn't improve in a couple days. I think she probably will. But - if she doesn't, take her in and have the vet look at her. I can't tell you how many times my dogs have had a sore leg for a day or two. Especially my larger dogs who play outside more. They occasionally come in with a limp that soon disappears. I just hate to see you get a vet bill - that probably and hopefully is not necessary. With my one dog (not my Yorkie) it seemed like I lived in the vet's office for two years. And - even so - there were many times that I was able to avoid a vet visit by waiting a day or two - letting many problems disappear. I am, of course, talking about different problems and injuries that were certainly not life threatening - nor were my dogs bleeding or in a lot of pain. Sometimes you can wait a day or two....... Good luck - hope your little guy does fine. Carol Jean |
A couple weeks ago Madison tried to jump onto the couch and ended up falling down. She didnt cry or show any sign of pain, but she began limping and couldnt walk on her back right leg. My husband took her to the vet the next morning and he said that her ligaments in that leg are not very strong. He had to snap her leg back into its socket (SO SAD) and he showed my husband how to do it also. She took an anti-inflammatory for a couple days and he also gave us some tablets to give her every other night mixed with her dinner to strengthen her leg. He thinks that surgery will be necessary in the future, but for now she seems to be fine. Maybe her leg is out of its socket? Let us know what the vet says!!! |
Poor baby . Give her grandma kisses. I am sure she will be better soon. Her mommy went thru the same thing the evening we picked her up. I will talk to you very soon. |
