Jazmyne isn't eating but playful? Jazmyne is just over 14 years old. She hasn't eaten in a few days, she tries a little then throws up a few hours later. I've tried to feed her rice, beef, chicken, and some food from the vet for dogs that won't eat. She isn't lethargic. She is playing and goes for 3 long walks everyday. She is sleeping fine, snoring away. She had pulled a muscle in her back a few weeks ago and I'm wondering if it's still lingering. The vet did urine tests and everything was clear. She is going back for blood tests today. My parents are watching her while I'm at work and they think she is depressed. Has anyone seen anything like this? |
Blood work came back. Her liver is in trouble. They are doing x-rays tomorrow. It could be pancreatitis or hepatitis or just an infection. She goes on iv for days to see if her levels go down. If they do then she gets antibiotics. If not I don't know what I do next. She did say she's not in pain, just not feeling great. |
I am so sorry that your little one is not feeling well. I will be keeping her in my thoughts, and hoping for a full recovery. (((hugs))) |
I’m so sorry. It’s so hard when our older babies are sick. Please keep us updated. I will keep both of y’all in my prayers. |
The urine tests came back clean. So that's a bonus. Liver can repair itself. Kindeys, not so much. She's a tough one. Just sad that she's not eating. But the iv will get her fed. |
Keeping little Jazmyne in my thoughts and prayers  |
I meant to say I hope the liver can repair itself. |
The vet did xrays this morning. No abnormalities or growths. Liver is in isn't great and she's constipated. She's been on antibiotics and iv all day. They are sending her home tonight and she goes back for iv tomorrow all day. The outlook is hopeful but not out of the water yet. Jaundice hasn't quite set in. We caught it early enough that the vet said she might beat this. Only time will tell. They are pretty sure it's pancreatitis. Has anyone dealt with this and what to expect going forward? |
The vet decided that Jazzy was to goto the 24 hour clinic. Her liver is in really bad shape. No jaundice though. They said her skin was a little coloured this morning but was much better tonight. Her gums and eyes are good. They have her on iv, Sam-e, antibiotics, pain killers, and a sedative. She’s not in pain though. I’m preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. She’s staying there until Sunday to flush her system. |
Thank you for the update. It's so hard to stay positive at times like this. Stay strong, you and Jazmyne are in my thoughts and prayers (((hugs))). |
Thank you! I just got off the phone with the vet. Since she's been there, she's more lively and is content. The vet said her color is great and she's just watching the vets work. Hoping! |
Hope thing continue to improve! 🙏 |
The vet called this morning. Her color is back to normal. At least that's one positive. She's watching the vets work and doesn't seem uncomfortable, just a little cold, so they gave her a heated wrap. They gave her an appetite inducer to see if she will start eating. They are going to leave her on iv until tomorrow. Then a full blood work will be done. If her levels don't go down but she starts eating, the vet said to take her home and let her live her life out. If she won't eat and her levels won't go down, I'll have to euthanize. If her levels come down, then there's a chance the liver can start repairing itself. Either way she is coming home tomorrow for a while. So all I can do is give her love and be happy for all the great times she has given me. |
Praying Jazmyne pulls through this and you get a few more years to love, pamper and spoil her, these seniors are so very precious. Thank you so much for this update |

OMG! I’m so happy I could cry. I just talked to the clinic and they said Jazzy is a totally different dog. She pooped. She’s very lively but still isn’t eating. But I have a feeling it’s cause she’s not at home. She’s weird that way. But I’m on my way to the clinic with chicken and rice. She’s coming home in the am with a new diet and some new drugs. I will post updates. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. |
Hello I'm new to the forums...my yorkie(well part yorkie and prob Jack russel mix) had pancreatitis. I was back to vet 6/7 times..ugh...I researched it and finally asked for a probiotic. I sprinkle it on his food each day. He seems much better lately. If I see him eating grass again I give him a half of pepsid too. He now is eating hamburger meat(non fatty type) and sweet potatoes for the most part w his cereal-kibbles I mean LY |

Thank you so much for the update |
Morning! I thought I would give an update on Jazzy. The vet called today and said Jazzy is much better. When I took her to my vet Thursday, her ALT was unreadable (too high apparently). She went on iv at my vet Friday for the day, then moved to the emergency clinic Friday night. They didn't test her levels then but did this morning. Her ALT is 833, normal around 125, her GGT is 95, and her Bilirubin (I think that is the word?) is 104, normal 15. She went in Friday night not eating, constipated, and not happy. She is eating and pooping now and feisty as ever. She doesn't like being poked and prodded. She has Chloangiohepatitis and Pancreatitis. They are quite sure she is going to make it through with meds and a new diet. They told me this morning that she is a totally different dog. Thank you again for all the well wishes. I'm going crazy not having her at home but she needs help and that's the best place for her to be. |
Absolutely leave her at the vet until they get everything under control, vet although makes our babies not happy to be there, it's the best place for her at this time. Again, thank you for Jazzy's update  |

Hi! Yes maybe ask about the probiotic...My vet had not suggested it prior but I had read up on it for yorkie's etcmand asked vet for it to try... My Lukie is much better since on it. They say plain yogurt will do the same but I went with the probiotic. It is Forti Flora by Purina. Keeping him on the sweet potatoes w him meet/kibbles and maybe try some fresh pumpkin soon! |
Jazzy is home. She is acting very funny. She making like a grunt/whine noise. She was fine on my lap in the vet for the 20 mins while we got her meds and paperwork together. Then in the car and even now, she is still acting that way. But when she's up and walking around she's fine. Is she having an anxiety attack maybe? We gave her a painkiller so we'll see if that changes. She's drinking water fine. Not eating yet, but she's probably not hungry. She ate in the clinic this morning. |
No change. But the vet is giving her the painkiller she had in emergency now. She was on buprenorphine in the hospital but Gabapentin at home. She is going to get both for a few days. Fingers crossed. |
Sorry I cannot offer any advise or suggestion, none of my seniors went through that. Praying for lil Jazzy and you too mom. Thank you for the update. |
Update. Jazzy cried a lot of the day yesterday. Last night around 11pm she went to bed with me and slept all night. Got up at 5am and peed. Drank water this morning and only cried a little. But by 2pm she seemed to be more relaxed. Sleeping like she normal does. She still is a little wobbly but the pain killers will do that. I gave her Mirtazapine at 5pm. I'm hoping she'll eat. Once that happens, I think she'll be on the road to recovery. The vet said Pancreatitis could take a week or more on meds before she really gets back to normal. |
Here's hoping that she has turned the corner, and is soon feeling herself! It sounds like she is making slow, but solid steps in the right direction. |
