Scabs My yorkie has developed scabs on her back. Have no idea why this is happening. Been a couple weeks now. Thought they would dry up and fall off but they haven't. They don't seen to bother her at all. Anyone have any experience dealing with something like this? She is 12 years old now.,

Skin issues especially at this age can be a symptom of something bigger. I would see the vet about it ASAP.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sounds like pyoderma to me. It's treated w/ Simplicef x 30 days.

Scabs Brought my yorkie to the vet for the scabs. Acute dermatitis he said. Shaved the scabs off, major infection underneath. Cleaned, gave shots of antibiotics and another steroids. She handled it well, and seems to be doing well now. But she has two huge bald spots now, but hopefully the hair will grow back. I'm feeling much better now. She is on the mend.

My Yorkie 2 yrs old also has scabs. I don’t pull them off. The vet said it was dermatitis and give me shampoo to use. It helps a little. The scabs don’t seem to bother her. But I am in the middle of other issues. Jupiter sees specialist next maybe liver shunt? She collapses when excited and sometimes goes into a dream like state. Last for 5 to 20 seconds and comes out of it. Is very tired afterwards. Not trying to scare you though. I think the skin thing is not associated but will ask the specialist.

Thank you Jupiterlove. My Yorkie passed away 2-3 weeks later. Have no idea why she died, she seems fine after seeing the vet. Made one little yelp and she was gone. That fast. Good luck with your puppy tho. We have a new puppy. 1 year old Pom.
