Chester is in Icu I had to take Chester to the emergency vet on Christmas night late because I noticed his breathing wasn't right and it was very labored. He is in the emergency ICU and they think he has heart failure because I just found out he's got a heart murmur. He's getting Lasix to get rid of the extra fluid and a med to help his heart pump better and he's still on oxygen. I went down to see him today but it gets him to too worked up so I don't want to bother his breathing as much as I want to see him. I'm really having a hard time with him not being here I love this dog to Pieces he's a little over 15 and he's the love of my life. |

I just talked to the vet about an hour ago they redone his chest x-rays his heart failure is better but now the Lasix to get rid of the fluid is drying him out. I want to lease talk to the cardiologists there's cardiologist is not there right now someone at least get their input before I decide what to do. My heart is breaking this dog has had the best of everything and he goes everywhere with me we've traveled so much together. |

I finally got to see him today today hold him and cuddle him and I sang to him while the tech had oxygen in front of him. He was pretty perky and he has been eating. Im just concerned about the oxygen, he cannot be in a tent forever. They started Viagra today which is for pulmonary hypertension which can help. They was wanting cardiologist to do a echo but he is not even in town cuz of Christmas and it wont change treatment. I just would like too see him home for a few days if his breathing gets better to decide what I need to do. I will not let him suffer. I find the decision hard since he dont look horrible, but the vet said he was better this afternoon than in the morning. |

I am so sorry to hear that Chester is so ill. I hope the Viagra helps him. We had a foster who was put on it and he lived for a few years when they originally only gave him months! His heart issues were due to Chagas disease. I hope that Chester has the same results with the medication and can come home soon. Will say a prayer for him....and for you. |

Dog Prayers for Chester. I hope he is getting better. It is so heartbreaking to have our dogs sick. Just your presence with him is a comfort to him. If he gets too anxious that's not good. I just pray he can go hone with you soon. |
I brought Chester home on Friday about 7 pm and he had been off of oxygen for about 12 hrs. He was really anxious on Saturday afternoon and he was pacing so I went and got some Trazadone for him and it made a big difference.. He has been better on no pacing and he slept with me last night. He has been eating better in the 14 hrs. I was giving him low fat cottage cheese and some baby food. He like the meal mixers from Stella and Chewys which is high in fat and protein if it is dry. He is less restless and does not like like his pills.He has bit me a couple of times. |
Chester is doing better, and he is eating better. I brought him home on Friday about 7pm and he had been off his oxygen for 12 hrs before I picked him up. He got restless Saturday night and I had to get some Trazadone. He ate some low fat cottage cheese and some baby food, and some stella and chewy meal mixers. He does not like his pills and has bit me so I got a pill gun and it works fairly well. Im exhausted but I will do anything for him. |

So happy to hear Chester is home. Maybe put his pills in with his meals? I do that with one of my fosters....funny how he knows there is a pill if I hand it to him, but if it is in his dish, he doesn't realize it. |

Chester is eating better today so some of his pills I can put in the baby food or low-fat cottage cheese and he will eat it before he didn't have enough of an appetite to eat anything like that. I will make a appointment in the morning to get a refill on his meds with my regular vet and to maybe repeat his blood work to see how his kidneys are doing. He was Restless last night and we didn't get much sleep and I give him a Trazodone. |
Chester done pretty good yesterday and pretty good today he got a little restless and I give him some Trazodone. He's eating a lot better today and I'm able to give him some pills in his food so that helps. I'm going to call my vet in the morning to redo the lab work to see what his kidneys are doing because of the Lasix and do refills on the meds Foster's and Smith is obviously a lot cheaper. The one minute I have to get through the vet it is not available at Foster & Smith. |
