I am so sorry to hear Marcel is having problems. I will keep him and you in my thoughts and prayers..... Ann, I know you must be going nuts over this. |
Not much new to report. Started the compounded Gabapentin with really high hopes....but sigh, it's only working a little bit. He is still limping markedly on his back left. Next will probably be trying another medication combo to see if we can get relief. :( I'm going to ask my vet to consult with a neuro I found. I just *hate* seeing my poor little Marcel limping around like this. I want to fix him!!! :(:(:( |
Please give that little darling a squeeze from us, Ann. You ares till in our thoughts, as is Marcel |
Marcel Is it possible Marcel was running or jumping off something and injured his leg! This happened to my friends schnauzer. He was running in his yard and started limping. Went to the vet had x rays showed nothing. He did something to the tendons in his leg but he is OK now. I hope that is the case. |

Hopefully, something will be effective *soon*. :( We doubled the Gabapentin yesterday, bc we weren't seeing enough of a result from it. Going to pic up compounded Tramadol today to see if that helps w/ the pain. And then loop back w/ vet Monday to report on the weekend - and to probably start Prednisone at that time, to try to further reduce any inflammation. |
Holding lil Marcel in thoughts and prayers. I do hope they find the right meds to relieve that limping. Hugs |
Anna had similar symptoms a few months back. Vet treated her with doxy and steroid because he suspected tick born illness. When she finished steroid she became very ill again. He said addisons. So she takes daily steroid. Her hind legs were so weak that she couldn't walk. She went from 8 lbs to 5. Praying you find answers soon. |
Is Marcel your pup with cushings? If so, I read that it can cause adrenal glands to wear out. This results in addisons. |
Sending good thoughts |

Marcel Praying for healing for marcel. It is so tough when our dogs aren't well. |
Hoping little Marcel is feeling better and that maybe you have more news on what's going on with him. Hugs to that sweet baby and his mom!!! |
Thank you so much, everyone, for thinking of my precious Marcel. Update: Still on Gabapentin, Tramadol, Prednisone...and just started a muscle relaxant - Methocarbamol. We have to give it a little time...but he's still limping / in pain :(. It\'s so upsetting to see him like this and I feel so helpless. We will complete the Pred trial prior to my vet consulting neuro. Also exploring a Chiro but am VERY hesitant about this...I\'ve heard good and bad. I emailed my vet about her thoughts regarding a Chiro - and she does support it; I personally have had good results w/ a chiro. But geeeeeeeez, I just do not know. Anyone have experience they want to share about Chiro with their dogs...? |
