So sorry to hear he's still not himself. I know how worrisome this is. I had high hopes for the NutriCal, they don't have to eat it it just goes in the roof of their mouth. Jaya still has the fur on her face full of NutriCal from the weekend! Prayers for you and your little guy. Hoping for some good news this morning. |
Oh this poor little guy. I am so sorry he is having such a difficult time. I hope he is on the mend soon. I might be thinking about an internal med specialist at this point if they don't get to the bottom of it. |
Often pancreatitis can start due to anesthesia. I see that blood work was done, so maybe they have ruled that out. Just wondering if they have done a cPLI ? |
Thanks for the tip on the specialist. Will see what the vet finds out today. Not sure on the cPLI test, but vet gave us his cell, so I just sent him a text message to inquire. |
I definitely second the recommendation on seeing a specialist. I am often pretty quick to go that route when anything is looking out of the norm. Has he had a fever? Have they considered an ultrasound? I know when Monroe was sick at the emergency vet they did an ultrasound pretty quick and found fluid around the pancreas which lead one specialist to suspect pancreatitis. Sending love & prayers!!! |

Nothing yet, as the primary vet is in surgery at the moment. But they have the barium test going. I did leave a message on his phone and with receptionist about the cPLI test. His temperature has been completely normal over this whole ordeal. He was going to run the whole battery of tests and such today, but when he calls I'll ask him about the ultrasound as well. |

Thanks for the info on the cPLI. So, here's where we are at the moment. All blood tests are still completely normal, and no fever. Barium has passed through the throat and stomach and now in the small intestine, nothing showing there so far. He did a urinalysis and shows he has a pretty bad bladder infection, so they are going to be treating that. He can't do the cPLI there, so he's going to send that off for testing. He's also going to call another doc that can do the ultrasound tomorrow. |

I'm on the phone now (on hold) wth a specialist in my area to get their thoughts. First lady I talked to said the bladder infection could certainly be causing all of this if it's bad. So will find out if they want us to bring him in or wait a little bit for the bladder treatment. |
If it were me, I would likely ask for a specialist referral before doing the ultrasound etc with another vet (check the link above or they should have specialists they recommend). In my experience, you’ll end up redoing a bunch of the same tests once you get the specialist anyway. :( |
