Desperate for help.. euthanasia is next I am crying as I write this because I feel like I have hit a brick wall. I am desperate for help with my companion of 9 years, my precious Roxie. I don't even know if what I am posting is allowed, but I see no other options. Roxie needs a full tooth extraction which has been estimated at $900. Due to my own recent issues and medical bills because of my heart, the cost may as well be 90,000 because I simply do not have it. Her teeth are in bad shape and on one side in particular, she is having recurrent abcesses and infection which is erupting through the outside of her cheek. I have neglected my own bills to take her to the vet every couple of months for a debridement of the wound and an antibiotic shot to hold the infection off for a while longer, but it always comes back. Today, her cheek erupted again and the left side of her face is just a bloody mess. A terrible open wound. She will not eat or drink because of it. She is in so much pain that I cannot even clean the area with a warm moistened cotton ball. I have buprenex for her pain, but I can't get it anywhere near her mouth because she screams and shakes when I barely touch the syringe to her mouth. It isn't fair for her to go through this pain, and I hate myself for not having the funds to pay for her full extraction. The only option available to me is euthanasia so that she doesn't have to keep going through this agony. My last option is to post this desperate plea, in the hopes that someone with more resources can take her in for the tooth extraction and give her a loving home. At 9 years of age, she has so much life left to live. She is such a sweet cuddle bug and has been my shadow and my sidekick since the day I brought her home. She is so tiny at 2 lb 14 oz and has gone with me everywhere. Roxie is just a beautiful soul! If you know of anyone or even of a yorkie rescue that would allow me to relinquish her, and they would in exchange cover her medical bill for the tooth extraction, please please let me know. Sending her to another home would leave a major hole in my heart, but putting her down just because I lack funds is something I would have a very hard time living with. I am so sorry if this post is inappropriate but I am desperate. I live in Salt Lake City, utah. |
Hello and welcome to YT - I'm sorry it has to be under these sad circumstances. :( My heart breaks for Roxie, it really truly does. She simply *cannot* go on living under these health conditions. You do not need to euthanize her - there are plenty of Yorkie rescues who may take her. Let's figure this out ASAP and get this little one some URGENT help! |
OH I am so sorry....I am sending you a private message. |
I sent you a message...we do have someone in Utah who will probably help. But you do need to email us at yorkiehavenrescue06@yahoo.com Prayers for you and Roxie |
This just breaks my heart. Sending out prayers. |

Please email Yorkie Haven ASAP - they are the best rescue and they will get your girl the help and care she needs. |
Thank you so much, ladyjane. Sending email now. I have applied for as many grants as possible in the sticky for emergency vet help, but still have not heard back from any, and time is of the essence. I was able to get Roxie to eat a few tiny morsels of food today, but she is quickly losing weight and she really doesn't have any extra to lose. |

Anyway...I went ahead and contacted the person who we know in UT. She is about 2 hours from Salt Lake City. She is very willing to pick up Roxie on Wednesday afternoon if you decide you wish to surrender her. I realize this is a very hard time for you and I don't want to push you. I just want you to know options here. She is going out of town for 10 days starting on Thursday so she would not be able to get her until after that if she does not get her on Wed. Roxie would be in wonderful hands...she would be hospitalized for all of the treatment she needs. I am very concerned that this is going to affect her kidneys and heart if it has not already. We also would make arrangements tomorrow to pay for her to start treatment with a vet in your area ..( hopefully hospitalized as it sounds like it is needed) until she got there on Wed. to pick her up. Yorkie Haven would be paying for her care. There is a group on Facebook that I also wanted to discuss with you, but have not yet received an email or a phone call. I had hoped to hear from you this evening so that you could contact them to see IF they would be able to assist you in keeping her. PLEASE let me know ASAP what your intentions are. You asked for help and I am trying my best to help. I just don't know there is a time constraint here....it does not sound like Roxie can be like this much longer...and if we don't get some kind of answer tomorrow into Wednesday, I fear we will be unable to save her. I am sorry you are having to go through this and I am trying first to get help without you surrendering her. That is not always easy to find. You said you wanted to know if a rescue would take her and help her and yes, that is what we do. You can check out our website at Yorkie Haven Rescue |
I pray this baby will be given the care and attention, regardless of how heart breakingly difficult it is to make this decision....it certainly is the better option for the unfortunate pup, rather than euthansia. Thank you ladyjane, for always being there, lurking around, looking for desperate owners with ill or injured pups, that need help the owners can not provide....then quickly jumping in to help..... I hope this person will realize the horrible, difficult position she is in, and while surrendering the baby is heartbreaking, whatever has to be done to assure this pup gets a fair chance at a healthy, loving life, MUST be done..... |
My heart breaks for this little one and her owner. Hoping she reaches out and accepts help. Perhaps she will be able to get that help and keep her. |

Thank you ladyjane, for reaching out to her and her little one. Hoping she gets in touch with you very soon. |
Please ..... what was the outcome????????? |
Wow this is heartbreaking! Oh I feel for the owner and little Roxie. Ladyjane I am in awe of what you do! It gives me hope in mankind in such a cruel world we live in! Your work must be very rewarding and very heartbreaking at the same time. Thank you for what you do for these little ones! I buy Presley's belly bands that support YHR but had not put two and two together that it was you, lord I am slow sometimes! I will be ordering more tomorrow and checking out your website! |
I hope the OP took Ladyjane up on her offer! YHR does a lot of rescue work and they work quickly too! |

Perhaps another bogus "plea" for help??? Possibly looking for a "financial" means of "help" rather than a sincere effort to get an unfortunate little soul the medical care needed? |

IT is odd though in that I did tell her I have another idea. BUT time is of the essence here as the OP said. She needs to contact me and try that option...and then if she does not succeed in getting the money, make a decision that is in the best interest of her pup. She does of course have an option of humane euth but that is sad to me when someone is offering to save her. I have done all I can...the ball is in her court. |
If this is a hoax it is a terrible one. I am sick with worry over this baby.WHY would someone ask for help for their baby and then not take t when that baby is in such terrible pain? |

I'm just have to pray for this baby. |

Why you ask? We who have been here for years have wondered that for years.... so hard to understand. There was one years ago here on YT who had a pup who was screaming in pain....it was horrible. I spoke with her on the phone one day and heard the poor baby screaming. I had nightmares over it. We tried to help the owner get funding and it just was not there...it was thousands. So, YHR stepped up and took her in and raised the funds for treatment...but then we were the bad guys who "stole her pup". Thank God not everyone acts like that. I have had so many nice people surrender their pups...with the only request being that we help the pup and find a wonderful home. I have always stayed in touch with the surrendering owner for as long as it takes for them to feel OK with all of it. I have even had adoptive parents stay in touch with the previous owner...but of course that is rare. |
I do pray she has found help locally with friends or relatives and Roxie is getting treated & not still suffering. When you plead and ask for help it is common curtesy to let others know what is going on, especially when others have reached out so quickly... |

The other thing is that someone on here could be jumping at the chance to get a "free tiny pup". I hope the OP is savvy enough to avoid the trap.... To the OP: If anyone here is trying to get this pup, PLEASE check them out thoroughly. I personally don't care...as long as Roxie gets the help she needs. Anyone who wants to take her in should have references...and you should personally call their vet and see if they have done routine dentals on their pups over the years. If they don't have a good track record in that respect PLEASE do not turn her over to them! PMs on this forum scare me. A lot of damage can be done. |

They also are always willing to help save pups in the Houston area with other things like transports and the like. Truly wonderful people! |
This lady was quick to answer in the beginning but what happened? If she does not respond soon then I guess we know it was bogus. Too bad if this turns out that way. |
