Ruger got into some Christmas candy It looks like Ruger got into some Christmas candy with some nuts and chocolate. I think he got into it last night. Right now he seems fine so I'm not too concerned but what should I watch for? I'm thinking about going out but should I stay home and keep an eye on him all day? The amount was two very small boxes the size of samplers and Ruger is 12 lbs, so he's a big Yorkie. Seems to have a good appetite and his poop this morning looked fine. Thanks. |
What kind of nuts and what kind of chocolate? Some Nuts are almost deadly....some not so much a concern.....of course, chocolate can be very harmful, depending on the type of chocolate....what kind of chocolate and what kind of nuts and how much? You may not have anything but loose stools, or you could have some real issues. |
I think walnuts and I'm guessing the chocolate was fudge. Each little box had about 6 one inch squares. He ate one and a half boxes. |
Candy Wow that is a large volume of any candy, toxic or not!! I am amazed he has not thrown up and that he does not feel bad, I don't think I could handle 9 one inch squares in one sitting. I would watch him and if he is not affected in any way, he sure is a hardy little Yorkie! Hope he is ok. |
Omg he ate a lot of chocolate! It must have been good. I hope he's okay. |
I went out for a few minutes. He threw up (lotsa nuts) and he seems more than fine. Thanks all for the prompt replies. You guys make this a great forum. :D |
Candy Thanks for letting us know. He must feel better with that load gone:) Hope he continues to get better and that the little monkey keeps out of your goodies in the future. |

Anytime chocolate is involved, I'd quickly refer to this and evaluate: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/eme...eight-dog.html |

Thanks so much for the links -- lots of info at ASPCA. Found more vomit downstairs, yuck, and Ruger is doing just fine today. Put the ASPCA page with foods you shouldn't give your pet on my cell phone's screen for easy access. |
