Don't like going to the vet? 4 Attachment(s) I see so many people who try all the home remedies and it always concerns me. This new YHR pup might serve as a warning for people who try such things...at least I would hope so. In all my days I have never seen anything like this. I have seen horrible things...this one just adds to my list or horrors. :( The pain this poor pup must have endured for I don't know how long is just so upsetting. She is estimated to be two years old....how ears could look like this in just two years is very scary. Clearly not cared for....no way a person who was caring for a pup would let them get like this. To top it off, she is the sweetest pup ever. I just took her for the day and she was an angel. I took her to the vet and then groomed her. She has been hanging out with my pups and is just a little doll! She does shake her head a lot and scratch, but to see her you would never know what is going on. Josie was dumped at a shelter and another rescue person (independent) pulled her. She took her to my vet where she found out the expense of helping Josie and she could not afford it. My vet referred her to us. She even had a friend who offered to foster her....so she submitted an application and was approved to foster for YHR. Perfect! Due to the fact that the one surgeon who performs the TECA (total ear canal ablation and ventral bulla ostomy) surgery that she needs and because she was in heat and left with a pit bull :confused: , she will be spayed on Friday, Oct 17. She will then be going next week to see the surgeon. Pics of this precious baby.....I warn you that the ears look horrific. :( Attachment 402138 Attachment 402139 Attachment 402140 Attachment 402141 |
Poor baby Josie. I am so happy she is in good hands and will received the treatment she needs from vet and from humans who will care for her and love her. She is a doll, and sweet, and hopefully will be on the road to recovery soon. Sending prayers for her, and big kudos to YHR and vets caring for her. |
Words pretty much fail me. There has got to be a special place in hell for people that allowed any dog to get in this shape. God bless all who are helping this poor little girl who has had such a terrible life up until now. At last she can know what pain relief, love and caring are. Bless her sweet little heart. |
Only thing I could say while looking at those pictures of her ears was "ouch" so I can only imagine how much pain she was in for so long. Poor baby :( God bless all the amazing people who have helped her now! |
This poor girl . . I do not understand what goes into peoples heads |
Poor baby not only do the ears look painful but the thought of that pit bull trying to mate with her makes me cringe with how that would have to had hurt. These kind of things make me dislike people ALOT! |
Breaks my heart! So glad she is getting the care she deserves!! I'll bet she had a blast at your house Linda! |
Good God . HOW ON EARTH can someone let this happen??? UNREAL. I hope karma comes and gives them the same in return :(. Ear pain is usually *just* excruciating...so I can't even bear to think what this little one goes through Every.Single.Day. Thank you so much for taking this precious one in. Look at that face!! Seriously, has the look of a little angel in fur . She will obviously have a Donation page on YHR, yes? |

Josie is definitely the poster girl for why vet visits should never be put off. A simple problem was allowed to fester and become a huge problem. So much pain and permanent damage could have been avoided easily. It is amazing to me how Yorkies and other dogs endure these horrors. The photos you posted on Facebook before she was completely cleaned up made me cry -- to think she could still be smiling despite all of her pain. Although, people often use that as further excuse to avoid the vet: 'she's still playing, and eating, blah blah blah." Max would eat and go for walks even if he was near death. If something is not right, vet time. |
so glad she is YHR hands now. sending many healing wishes for this lil lady. most humans suck and this is just one example of why. blows my mine how you let it get this far. |
This breaks my heart, so glad she's getting the care she needs. |
Linda those were the worst ears I have ever seen! That poor poor sweetheart. I can't imagine not seeing those ears and doing nothing as an owner, I JUST CAN:T IMAGINE IT With a dropped ear breed, we get lots of yeast infections and wax build up etc, but OML those ears! I do hope under your wonderfull care those ears will heal up. |
Poor baby!:( So glad she's in better hands & healing can begin...what's wrong w/her ears?:( |

•Dogs that have had long-standing ear infections may develop irreversible damage to the ear canal. Due to chronic inflammation, the ear canal becomes very thickened and can turn into bone. As a result, the infection will not resolve with medication. The middle ear cavity (tympanic bulla) frequently is infected as the ear drum is commonly ruptured with chronic ear infections. •Cancer of the ear canal is another disease requiring this type of surgery. In dogs, surgery is usually curative for malignant cancer (adenocarcinoma) of the ear canal, if the tumor has not invaded through the cartilage or into the middle ear cavity. If your pet has an ear tumor, chest radiographs (x-rays) will be taken to help rule out the possibility of spread of the cancer to the lungs. •Congenital imperforate ear canal resulting in middle ear infection. In other words, people who put off going to the vet with those pesky ear infections and home treat can cause this. This site describes the procedure and says, "In most cases, the results are nearly miraculous. Patients demonstrate more energy now that their headaches are gone. There is no more odor, ear cleaning, or pain." Total Ear Canal Ablation and Ventral Bulla Osteotomy: The TECA Procedure - VeterinaryPartner.com - a VIN company! |
Just the thought of of this poor baby girl's pain makes my heart hurt! I don't know how she could ever trust human race again! Karma, Dear Lord let there be Karma! Thank you Linda and all of those involved for helping this sweet girl. |
Oh the pain, this poor pup has been going through. That is awful. Paint me disgusted. |
OMG stupidity continues. This poor sweet little baby. Linda I am so glad YHR has her now and can get her the help she needs. |
This just makes me sad :( If you cannot afford or irresponsible enough not to take the dog to a vet, do not own an animal! |
Oh this poor little baby. How can anybody do this to a precious baby? Thank God she is going to get the care she needs. Susan |

OK...not responding individually to all of you; but I have read your comments and so appreciate your good thoughts for the precious baby. She is being spayed right now as I type this...then she is coming to my home at least for now. So, I will be able to monitor her tonight and at least until her ear surgery. |
