Back from Gulf Coast and hopeful news today! Jasmine's tumor has reduced in size (after just 2 treatments) so the radiation therapy field has also been reduced as well as the dosage. Jasmine is still eating well and is very alert. She has three more treatments so I'm praying that the tumor just disappears, goes away. Everyone seemed pleased with her progress so I am really feeling that I made the right decision. Jasmine & I would appreciate prayers to rid her body of this awful disease. |
Oh, this is wonderful news! So happy for you and your Jasmine. |

Hearing this made me smile. I am just so happy that she is responding to radiation and that she felt well enough to eat a cheese burger. I will continue praying and pulling for you and Jasmine. It's so obvious how much you love Jasmine, but believe it or not, these experiences of trying to fight an illness like this, draws us even closer to our babies. I always thought with my Kiwi, a ten year old female Yorkie, that I couldn't possibly love her more. The stars, sun, and moon rose and set on our deeply adored little girl. We went through huge roller coaster rides with her--those manic feelings when she started doing better, those sad feelings when she took a step backward, and the roller coaster ride continued. Our hearts were so large, filled with love, and very vulnerable. Something else happened. We grew to love her even more, our bond grew even closer, and she touched our hearts and lives with so much life', a loving bond, and deep heartfelt feelings I will never ever forget these moments with her or the very precious little dog who change my life and made it more beautiful. These are the experiences and love that bring us closer together with our babies, ones we will never forget in our lifetime. |
So happy to hear that Jasmine is doing so well with her treatments!! :) |
Such good news. I am Praying for a looooong remission for your girl. |
Joyce, I am very happy to read your wonderful news! Continuing to pray for Jasmine and you. |
Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers for Jasmine and you. |
Thank you everyone for the support and continued prayers! Jasmine now wants to go with me every time I leave the house. She must really like her new friends at Gulf Coast. It was hard looking back at her face this morning as I locked the door but I had to run errands and thought it was best that she stay home. Oh that look gets me every time! She is still eating well and has even gone back to guarding her kibble like she used to. For the past month or so I've been sitting on the floor with her and hand feeding. Nothing like mushy dog food in your hands! She's taking her meds like she supposed to but of course I hide them in soft snacks. Now she knows her schedule and won't allow me to forget. She thought about chasing one of my cats yesterday but when I opened the front door she felt the cool air and quickly changed her mind. We are still just taking it one day at a time and I am thankful that I at least get to do that! |
This is such a blessed result! Praying it continues until the tumor has been totally erradicated and Jasmine continues to improve! |
Back from Gulf Coast and Jasmine has completed all 6 of her radiation treatments. The tumor continues to decrease in size and appears necrotic. Just reviewing her report so will have to look up the word "necrotic" to see what it actually means!! All in all and considering Jasmine's age she is doing well. There was no negative report given today by her Oncologist. I have no regrets and have absolute faith in the team at Gulf Coast that has been caring for her. She goes back to see her Oncologist in 2 weeks for a recheck. I fell very blessed to have this extra time with Jasmine and we will continue to fight this horrible disease. |
Such an awesome update!! :) SO happy for you and your girl, Joyce!! :) |
Joyce you both have been in my prayers and thoughts. So happy to hear about the radiation. One day at a time is just the right way to go :D |
Thank you both! It's been really tuff but this is where we are today. I can hardly wait for her recheck in 2 weeks. I have never had an animal on so many meds. but the Oncologist said she may be able to come off of some of them soon. She's on 3 different pain meds., antibiotics, eye drops, cream for her face and a new med. for constipation. Hoping she doesn't get addicted!!! I'd hate for her to go through withdrawals. I'll have to ask about that?? She sure does like her pill pockets!!! |
