Last update (fingers crossed for us!): Her blood work from our regular vet came back normal as well and her stools have gone back to being small and firm. Her appetite is back and she is acting completely like herself again! For example, she is currently burying a bully stick in my pillow as I type this. We have put this down to a sudden intolerance of the food she was eating. She had been on that food for almost a year, but every so often foods stop agreeing with her and she was getting a spoonful of canned food with her Dasuquin each morning, and we have also stopped using the canned food. We had a week of slowly introducing a new food to her plus her supplement and she is still doing great. She was eating Now FRESH Small Breed and we have switched her to Go! Sensitivity and Shine Salmon formula made by the same company. It contains less protein and fat and less ingredients so I am hoping that her tummy handles this one for awhile. Instead of canned food we purchased a bag of freeze dried Stella and Chewy's Surf n Turf and we have been breaking off a piece each morning, adding water and then her supplement and she really enjoys it. Thanks again for all the reassurance that I wasn't being paranoid. I can definitely sleep better knowing her blood work came back fine. Please wish us luck that this doesn't happen again! |
Happy to see your little one is doing better. |
I have a 12 year old female yorkie named Abigail. She was diagnosed with IBS and lymphangectasia. We see an internal medicine vet and vet nutritionist. She is currently on a home cooked diet of crab and sweet potato plus supplements. Her diet needs to be very low fat and novel protein. She weighs 4 lbs. I am trying to put weight on her but food choices are all low calorie. Any ideas? |
