Marcel Had Foxtail In Nose Removed - Follow Up Question Poor Marcel sniffed a foxtail fuzz into his right nostril and it was awful for him, he was so irritated. They put him under and removed it. But it's now 2 days later and he's still having some intermittent/random irritation in his nostril - clogged, stuffy, wet, dripping/drainage, some sneezing. At times, he gets so stuffy that he can't breathe in through his nose - he'll breath in through his mouth and out through his nose. And then it'll resolve for a while and be fine; and then randomly seems irritated again for a while. So my question for those who've been through something similar - did it take a few days for the congestion/irritation of the nasal tissue to clear up? I'm worried they left some foxtail in there, though they were sure they got it all. |
Poor Marcel. I'm so sorry you both had to go through this. My little Gracie had something stuck in her nose, and I don't think it's unusual for it to be irritated still, but I'm not sure if it would be so symptomatic. I wonder if the vet could prescribe something to reduce inflammation. |
Poor Marcel! I do not have any experience with this, but I want to send my well wishes for him. Hope his nose is all better soon. |
I agree with Lisa that the inflammation and swelling is likely still very irritating to his delicate nasal tissue and perhaps a nasal anti-inflammatory or pill or injection could help him feel better quicker. Still, you're there observing him and if he's getting acutely worse rather than better with each passing day, I'd get him in for a second look-see. |
I would think irritation or a possible infection... did they put him on ABs? |

Right now he's fine again...but was SUPER irritated after breakfast for a good 30 minutes. I just don't get it...why it starts and stops like that. If it's not better, we're gonna have to go back in - luckily our vet is open both Sat and Sun. |

poor lil Marcel, sorry I have no advise for this. Hope he gets relief quickly. |
Reread your post... maybe a reaction to any allergens the foxtail contained? Infection wouldn't be intermittent. |

Last night I played fetch w/ the crew, and poor Marcel was horrible afterward (but fine beforehand) -- so it's like it's exacerbated right now w/ *any* little excitement like eating, play/fetch etcetera. I'll have to not play for a few days. Maybe there is just some left over swelling and inflammation - which becomes worse w/ any activity whatsoever. Poor feller. |
How is Marcel doing? Hope the little guy is ok! |
Poor baby, I'm just seeing this. I hope Marcel's feeling better today. |
Checking on little Marcel............. |
So sorry I hope Marcel is feeling better today. |
Praying that Marcel is doing much better... |
