My Yorkie has been stuck w/ Poop coming for 45 min. HELP! I really don't know what to do. At 8:30 she started in the position to poop. I took her outside, and she has been in that position ever since. I put her in the shower, and put the shower head there to try and break it up, or soften what is coming out, but it seems hard as a rock. I would try to cut it, but I am not sure if it is just all hard poop, or if there is skin or something else there. ANY IDEAS???? I have a call in to the E.R. Vet, but I really don't know what to do in the mean time. Anyone ever go through this before???? |
omg, I have no idea what to do. My puppy was having a hard time pooping yesterday and I basically just played with him let him run around until it came out. It worked. Let your pup excercise a little. It tooka bout an hour but it came out sparatically over 2 hours time and now he's fine. You should look into a new food brand. What is he eating now? Did you give him other snacks? |
Oh MY  ,, I would try pulling on it,,with a kleenex of course,, Bailey has had a few hanger- on'rs,, before,, not pleasant but it has happened..Maybe its just stuck.. |
Thank you for your reply. I used a shower head, and drenched and softened the area, and when I rechecked on her after posting the message, there was poop EVERYWHERE in the shower. It like exploded into little pieces on the wall, ceiling, etc. I am going to watch what she is eating, THANK YOU! Now I have a lot of cleaning to do! ;-) |
I did try pulling it, but it was HARD as a ROCK! Like there was possibly something else in it. I could tell her tail from the poop either. This was like imbedded still in her back side to, it was very weird! I think the hand shower on massage mode, soften it and then it exploded out! Thanks again for your response. Off to clean the bathroom now! |
OH MY... glad everything " Worked" its way out... And good Luck to ya with that clean up... :thumbdown ( Glad I'm not you right now... hehe) |
Those Aliens are tough...... You know, the Clingons...... Peppy had an attack this afternoon and he had to have a bath. If it were me I would use some type of lubricant (mineral oil is the best, baby oil would work, in a pinch use some type of cooking oil, maybe olive) and dab some on the area and see if you can "tease" the poop on out. Be very careful and gentle, you don't want to injure her. |
I'm glad it all worked out in the end, or from the end. I am sorry, this is SO not funny, but I am just getting this mental pic of what you were describing... |
Those explosions are something else. It is amazing how so many people can get into a conversation about their dog's poop. LOL well like they say all's well and the end's well! |

I am glad you baby is better. I have to say I have never had this happen but now I will be well informed for it it ever does happen. Happy cleaning :D |
When your baby has a similar, no make that "IF", try lots of lubricant like vaseline and work it into the stool. Of course, bet we don't have to tell you to wear a disposable rubber glove. Then, it might break up and come out a little easier. I hate xpoo-losions |
Every once in a blue moon, Desi poop is rock hard and I can tell she is constipated and in pain. I have baby suppositories on hand in the refrigerator which I cut down a little and I insert one, then wait a few minutes so it melts and she goes immediate after that. I do this only in extreme cases, if you see that the pooh is a little hard and dry, give her 1/4 teaspoon of Mineral oil just to lubricate them. Of course, call your Vet to make sure its ok with him. |
Ah, gee! Out of five little doggies, I've never had anything like this ever happen and am I ever glad, too! |
I have seen something similar happen to my little dogs from time to time. If I noticed them out in the yard - having a very difficult time going to the bathroom, I bring them in and examine them. More often that not, they have poop that has dried and hardened right outside their anus. This needs to be removed. It is hard, dry, and stuck to them -- making them unable to pass anything else. This is also one of the reasons that we keep the hair around their anus trimmed very short. When this is done, the poop has nothing to adhere to and can't stay there so easily and become hardened. Sounds like whatever you did (in the shower) helped things get going. I am sure he is perfectly fine now and should also feel 100% better. Carol Jean |
