I am glad Gizmo is feeling better. My sweet Presley suffered from pancreatitis for 10 years. While initially it was my fault from feeding him from the table, once I learned what no to do - he didn't get anything fatty and was on a prescription diet the rest of his life. Still, he would periodically get a reoccurrence. Usually when I would leave town to go on a trip or even if he travelled with us. My doctor said it was probably due to stress.

Just catching this...glad to hear that Gizmo is back home and feeling better. I swear, these little guys have the most sensitive GI tracts ever. Sometimes it doesn't matter how strict of a diet they are on, how much you try to limit their stress...it's like something gets upset in there and on the roller coaster ride you go...and they can be fine for months and then all of the sudden a flare up.

Yep, that is it in a nutshell for sure. I have learned to respect the symptoms and not play around because they are scary little ones and can be lost quickly.
You are so right though...you can do everything right and bang one day it all comes unglued.

The nutritionist called me this morning and she is suggesting W/D. I am not thrilled with that option for various reasons that are probably not valid; but it probably is the best choice for Giz.

Is "W/D" Wellness Diet and is it lower in fat and that's the reason for the change?

She is focusing on both issues but the pancreatitis is number one concern at this point since it has become chronic. So, yes, he needs low fat. I spoke with her today and we will be adding potassium citrate to it but for now we are giving his GI tract time to settle down. The potassium citrate will help prevent the calcium oxylate stones.

He is eating really well. Actually eating more than normal which I am thrilled about because he is a frail little one. He seems to like this food!

Im glad Gizmo is doing better. Im learning something from this thread i thought the fatty foods caused this but its interesting to know it can be caused by other factors

That's amazing news that he's come this far, Linda! Such a trooper! I hope these changes will keep him in good stead for a long, long time to come.

Yes, he is really something. Little old man is not letting it get him down!

He is adorable. I hope he stays well too. I was so upset that he was so sick again.

Gizmo is doing so well! I am just amazed. He is eating like a little pig....he loves the W/D. He has not eaten this well in so long. I don't know why the change, but it is a welcome one! Hopefully he will put some needed weight back on!
