so happy to hear lil Gizmo is home and on the road to recovery. |
I am glad Gizmo is feeling better. My sweet Presley suffered from pancreatitis for 10 years. While initially it was my fault from feeding him from the table, once I learned what no to do - he didn't get anything fatty and was on a prescription diet the rest of his life. Still, he would periodically get a reoccurrence. Usually when I would leave town to go on a trip or even if he travelled with us. My doctor said it was probably due to stress. |
I am glad to hear Gizmo is feeling better |
Just catching this...glad to hear that Gizmo is back home and feeling better. I swear, these little guys have the most sensitive GI tracts ever. Sometimes it doesn't matter how strict of a diet they are on, how much you try to limit their stress...it's like something gets upset in there and on the roller coaster ride you go...and they can be fine for months and then all of the sudden a flare up. |

You are so right though...you can do everything right and bang one day it all comes unglued. |
Hope Gizmo continues to do well! |
The nutritionist called me this morning and she is suggesting W/D. I am not thrilled with that option for various reasons that are probably not valid; but it probably is the best choice for Giz. |
Praying for your little guy. |

He is eating really well. Actually eating more than normal which I am thrilled about because he is a frail little one. He seems to like this food! :) |
Im glad Gizmo is doing better. Im learning something from this thread i thought the fatty foods caused this but its interesting to know it can be caused by other factors |

Gizmo update Gizmo is doing so well! I am just amazed. He is eating like a little pig....he loves the W/D. He has not eaten this well in so long. I don't know why the change, but it is a welcome one! Hopefully he will put some needed weight back on! :) |
I hope everything goes well and he gets better ASAP. Poor little Gizmo :( |

So happy to hear good news for Gizmo. He has gone through so much, it's nice to know he's enjoying the new food and doing better. |
Had to check up on Gizmo and am so happy to read how well that little boy is doing. Big smiles here! |
I started reading this thread just now because my little Kiri was diagnosed with pancreatitis about a year ago, and when I first saw that red mucosy diarrhea, I was terrified. She is on Hills i/d and doing fine. But when she does sneak something, I can tell by the "gas attack". Then there's a little bout. Fortunately, this doesn't happen too often, and she seems fine. Just annoyed that she can't have all the treats and people food in the world. My little bug:) Glad Gizmo is feeling better! I hope you've been rejoicing and celebrating. |

Pancreatitis I'm a little late to the conversation but I'm so happy gizmo is better! My baby Khloe was diagnosed with pancreatitis a week ago and is still struggling. Any suggestions? They said it was mild and not bacterial so she's not on antibiotics but they sent her home with anti nausea meds and pain meds. She's on a low fat bland diet. She's doing a little better but she shakes and trembles for about 20-30 minutes after she eats. Is she in pain? She doesn't drink much either. I'm really worried. I know it takes time, but how long? We had all tests done and an ultrasound and were at the Er vet twice. I can't afford much more but it's breaking my heart to see her sick. She was never on a high fat diet to begin with because she has a liver disease. Could it have turned bacterial and now she needs antibiotics? The vet just keeps saying if she gets worse bring her back but she's not necessarily worse. Just not improving as fast as I thought she would. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. They also did an X-ray of her neck and said she could have disk disease. Anyone familiar with that? Thank you! |

Also indicate how old she is, and what kind of liver disease she has. Best wishes. |
I am so sorry to hear that your Khloe is so sick. You might want to start a new thread so that you will get more feedback. I am a bit concerned about the neck issue....how old is she? Did they say what the issue was? Shaking often indicated pain. I know you say money is tight, but I honestly think you should consider an internal med specialist so you can get to the bottom of the problem here. Often it is cheaper to do that rather than to keep going back to the vet and also to the EC. You can ask your vet for a referral or find one at: American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine > Home If you don't know about it, Care Credit can help with vet bills...low interest on it: Healthcare and Medical Financing for Consumers | CareCredit Please keep us posted...would like to see a new thread though so more will notice it. I think I will ask the mod to maybe move this to a new one... |
Thank you. I did start a new thread for this. Khloe is only 5 years old. They said there was some narrowing between a couple disks in her neck and it could be the beginning of ivdd. They didn't seem to think it was a big concern right now but it could develop into one later. The best way to really see is a ct scan. |
