AMC is one of the best & biggest animal hospital in try-state, and they have very best docs in there, so I have no doubt that doc's doing his best.
However, # just dropped below where we want it to be just like that in a week…
this is just so frustrating.
Hope you can figure out the correct dose for Meika soon!

I had to rush cheeky to hospital this morning with her swollen jaw...
She had facial abscess last year around the time she started showing cushing's symptoms. she had x-ray and dental check since most of facial abscess is dental abscess. Everything came out clean,and we thought that was the end of it. I was so wrong & I don't know what the hell is going on with her…
It's like her immune system just shut down, and any little thing can effect her health… She'll be on buprenex & antirobe till her next app to take MRI.
At least she off Lysodren for now… I can't imagine her being on all these meds at once…:(

I feel so bad for you both. I had to take my pom off Lysodren because she went into liver failure. Once the liver disease improved I did not put her back on it. I hope Cheeky feels better soon.

Oh no, poor lil Cheeky. Hope she is improving. Praying that she will recover quickly.

She lost her appetite like day & night since Friday.
She had an appetite of a horse, but she completely stopped eating at all by friday. It is just crazy...
It proves that lysodren works residually…
I believe doc was upping her dose little too fast.
now she's on prednisone :( & her appetite came back little which is a huge relief...

Wow, yikes! Sounds like the increase in Lyso was just too aggressive. It does give you a clue as to where to dose next, though. Glad your kiddo is feeling better, phew.

It scared blank out of me when she had no appetite & no energy at all just like that. I've never seen her unresponsive to my voice before. She looked so miserable…:( We'll be seeing Dr. Palma(endocrinologist/her vet) this Friday…
I hope her #s are in norm range by them

I took cheeky for her ACTH stim test as well as the dental visit.
Her teeth has been somewhat weak since she got cushiness…
The estimate came out to $3000 just for her dental:eek:
How is it possible that she had perfect set of teeth half year ago and now she needs 7 extractions!!!! Has she been eating candies behind my back?
and possible broken jaw? What in the world?
Anesthesia $626 + anesthetic drug $105 = $731
+ sevoflurane(general anesthetic)$48 which is &779 for anesthesia alone
7 dental extraction $980
oral splinter $$631
and so and so….

are these norm prices for dental work?

Wow that's expensive. I know a dental at my regular vet with 7 extractions is about 350.00. I believe you are at a specialty vet due to her Cushing's and you're in a higher cost area.
Does the dental have to be done at a special vet or can you take her to your regular vet. My vet charges 10.00 additional for each tooth extraction. I know I had to have Cali spayed at a specialty clinic due to her needing a liver biopsy for diagnosing a liver shunt or MVD. The whole thing cost 2800.00 8 years ago by a board certified surgeon. So I know they are very expensive. I hope you can work something out that is not so expensive.

Dr. RIBACK (dentist) is not regular AMC vet who comes to AMC 3times a week for any dental cares. I shopped around and it turned out its at lease half off at other vets…. … I wonder where the hell these inflated $ goes to… At lease I saved $1500+ just calling other vets :)
I'm going to make some more calls tomorrow, then take her to other reputable vet with reasonable price for her dental while she'll be seeing Dr. palma at the AMC for her cushing's

I found humane society around the corner of AMC, and I couldn't believe how cheaper it was at HSNY. Estimate for dental was around $350!!! That's 1/10th of what I would've paid with AMC.:eek: I'm so glad I stopped by HSNY, and cheeky's getting her dental next week:)
Meanwhile, she's back on Lysodren twice a week(monday & friday) for three weeks, and retest… …

Wow, what a great deal. I know our shelter does spay/neuters but I never thought to check for dentals.

My Wylie is on his Lyso 3x per week, so that's a similar dose to him. I hope it goes well!
